Led or fluro for seedlings

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, sorry if this has been covered recently, i did perform a search but couldn't find what i was looking for. Haven't grown anything from seed apart from vegies for over 10 years. For that i was using my old school technique of t5 or t8 fluro which i used to use for my choof clones.

I want to set up a little seedling room and everything now seems to be LEDs. I have only used fluros, HPS ect before. My questions are,

1. Are LEDs the way to go, or stick with what i know and just use T5 fluros?

2. If LEDs are the best option, what colours, wattage ect should i be looking for? Will literally be a 1/2 to 1 metre area, only for seedlings and cacti clones, not full on hydro setup.

On a different matter, have to give a big thank you to shanman store. Their seeds are so fresh and viable. I planted 3 x 20 pack and have 64 young trich seedlings. Have to love good fresh seed and a few bonus seeds in each pack. You guys rock.

I would just use normal fluro's they are cheap and reliable and work great i have been using fluro's on my seedlings/cuttings for 20 years
