Ethnoob Posted February 4, 2019 Even though my postie chick is fit as today she got quite the workout Ben, an unnamed bridgessi that I've labeled Blue Cheeze, Gawler, a grafted loph, another Roseii#2, Sausage, Scop, two different TPM x Pach's, Urban Tribes, Vollianus and another Yowie that I got as a gift. Today was a good day The really fucked thing is that this is only about 1/3 of what I blew the last of my money on. It's going to be a great week indeed I said I would take a stacked macro pic of that weird loph bit and now I deliver. I also made a stacked pic of a pup because why not? Ethnoob Posted February 5, 2019 Only a single cut came today but it's a good one, Pach x Peru that I got for the unbelievable price of $30
Ethnoob Posted February 6, 2019 Today my CSD from the man himself arrived and I had it in my hands for all of 3 minutes before cutting it. I'm a goddamn monster and probably a huge fucking idiot one considering I've only had a single graft work for me so far. It had to be cut due to the angle of the original piece if I wanted to graft it at all though so wish me luck but especially for the two smaller bits I slab grafted as it was the first time I've tried it at all. Ethnoob Posted February 7, 2019 Took some small cuts for a mate today. Here's what he's getting and the aftermath in my garden because it's not very often you get to see a cross section of these cacti. The abused cuts in order are crazy spine, jeans, lance, peru '86, psycho0, roseii#1 and roseii #2.
Halcyon Daze Posted February 7, 2019 Wow, awesome stuff. Every day more awesome! Make sure you let those cuts dry properly for at least a week, (two's better). Tell you what, I wouldn't take cuts any shorter than that. They won't do so great when potted, as-in, they may take a while to get big and strong again. The best way to do cuttings is to only deal with the big fat stuff. Keep 'them in the FAT zone. Those short cuts will probably grow skinnier for a while, and have some permanently skinny areas on them. Not saying it can't be done, or it should never be done, but what I am saying is it's best avoided. It's definitely not optimal. Better to grow them another year or more and take a big solid cut for your mate. Next time tell him to wait till next year LOL. There's plenty more he can find on ebay while he's waiting. Keep it up man, I'll be hitting you up for cuts at this rate

Keep it up man, I'll be hitting you up for cuts at this rate I was going to let them get bigger before cutting them but he agreed to share them out once they get big enough on his end so to help spread the love faster I figured bugger it, they're getting a chop I've got a couple of cuts with your name on it already. I do kinda owe you for that leg sized monster pach you sent me but unfortunately they will take a lot longer to be ready than the babies I took today and some like the CSD will depend on if the grafts take or not too but either way I will repay your generosity with some really decent cuts
Ethnoob Posted February 7, 2019 Oh lordy lord, did the postie chick just deliver! I got a few packages way earlier than expected with all manner of herbs, seeds and succulents but to stop myself from derailing my own thread too much here's the cacti, 7x pc tier pachanoi that are going to be mother plants for grafting stock and 2x trich. peruvianus, Cactus Garage and Brian that were also delivered I wish I could pot them up now but as I was expecting them to arrive next week I let myself run out of soil and pots again. Oh well, hopefully they're selling snags out the front of bunnings when I get there later
Joshwaa Posted February 7, 2019 You may have already done it but a light dusting of sulfur on those cuts wouldn't hurt! Awesome garden man, jelous seeing your daily posts and also inspired to start my own garden thread if i can find a spare half hour sometime soon!

Massive amounts of gratitude man i cant thank you enough for your generosity The spontaneous timing is amusing, altho we were both happy to be patient and agreed apon waiting was broken by unsaid enthusiastic energy on both sides I'll definitely add to the pass on program and hopefully the next lucky random candidate can do so to and it can continually grow and evolve with time. I might try and graft some of the slower growing cuts and maybe buy some pupping cream to speed things up a bit.....hopefully this time next year or sooner i can blow some other members mind with kindness. A million and one thank yous Ps if any one else would like to add/donate a cut/cuts to the pass it on concept to increase numbers and diversity in the collection for the next person please feel free to contact me

Ethnoob Posted February 12, 2019 Yesterday was a hectic day so I didn't get a chance to show off all the goodies that arrived so without further ado here's the new plants in my garden except for the grafting stock pachanois because we've all seen pc a million times Ben, Brian, T. Peruvianus 'Cactus Garage', Cornocopia, Eileen, Fields OP, Kai, KK991, T. Knuthianus, Nimbin, Monstrose Pachanoi, Psycho0, Short Spine Bridgesii and Yowie. I also got Chemical Shaman's Dick and to likely no one's surprise had 2/3 grafts fail. They were the tiny slab grafts so while it sucks it wasn't a total loss and I still might be able to save the larger one but the smaller one is definitely a write off as you'll painfully see. I have noticed a fair few pups coming up over the last couple of days including my first ever basal pup which has another one already starting to form right next to it. There's also Jeans and a penis cactus pupping well now too Saving maybe the best of all, or at least the most interesting for me anyway, for last, here's that confused loph doing it's thing again but turning the dial up to 11 I was able to put my rent off for a week to score a Foolsbreath cut from moonunit and some other goodies that will come over the next week or so too. I know, I know, I need to find a cacti addicts anonymous, but thankfully I get paid on Thursday and need to go on a diet anyway lol
Ethnoob Posted February 18, 2019 (edited) While the forum was down lots happened in my garden both good and bad. I'll start with the bad. Some dirty fucker attacked the Eileen that got sunburned or tmv a while back massively hurting it. The same cunt hit one of my legendary matucana pachanoi seedlings too. I fenced it off straight away but as the peeps on facebook think it was a parrot attack my efforts were probably futile. To cheer up this post a little here's a Rosei#1 with a smiley face, a decent pic of my largest sausage cactus and my loph jourdaniana that's continuing it's push to bloom. The really good news is I've again added more cacti including the legendary foolsbreath In order those cuts are booya, cuzco, foolsbreath, kai, peru, pyscho0, ss02 x juul's giant and urban tribes. I also managed to convince a seller on ebay to supply me with a few cuts off my wish list so plant attacks aside it's been a great week Edited February 18, 2019 by Ethnoob pic
Ethnoob Posted February 24, 2019 It's been an awfully slow week as aussie post has been a bit slack about getting a package to me and I haven't been able to buy any other cacti due to a lack of funds. I've got the urge to constantly expand my collection though so today I attacked the garden to get the fix I need. Unknown blue bridgesii from SAB that I grafted the tip to a bit of PC and kept a mid for later planting, True Blue Peru and @Halcyon Daze's pachanoi. Sorry mate, I couldn't help myself, I obviously need help with my addiction lol The aftermath on the original plants. Bunnings fucked me again by not replacing the pots they run out of so I've had to move to the next size up which has about double the volume of the smaller ones. I also bought some Eileen in case my big one died from the attack (it's still powering on, yay) and a couple of super pedros from herbalistics. God those cuts are tiny.... I also bought around 30 peres from a guy off facebook and have him working on getting 100 more for me over the next few months so I can start grafting my seedlings. It's going to be a pretty so week but the guy who runs trichocereus.com.au is having a plant sale which is going to result in me smashing out a considerable amount of my wish list in about a fortnight. I can't wait
Ethnoob Posted February 25, 2019 Yay, some cuts arrived. Thanks for telling me they were still in Bendigo at midday aussie post 2x Ferret, 2x Fields Knuthianus and 2x Dawson's Peru all in rounds pots because Bunnings have employed literal retards that can't stock shelves. Ethnoob Posted February 26, 2019 Here's some puppy love and since I potted up the cuts I took on the weekend today those too plus a group shot since it's been a while
Ethnoob Posted March 4, 2019 My newest addition to the garden is a Terscheckii x Psycho0 that's already drawn blood and I've found a bunch more pups and what I think may be the start of a flower in the garden too
Halcyon Daze Posted March 4, 2019 Looking good I'd suggest putting them all up on pallets to keep the grass from growing up through the pots. That couch grass is an absolute bastard to get out of cacti pots. Place some black plastic under the pallets. You can get pallets for free on gumtree and you can also get black plastic for free from bunnings. They are the big square pieces of thick black plastic that are placed in between layers of pavers. There's usually a bunch laying around. Just tell them you need them for your paving job.

I'll have to see if I can make that happen as getting pallets here would be quite difficult but if I can't I'm sure I could work something similar out with some pavers or plastic sheeting I took a shitty group pic last night for a friend to show how bad my cactus addiction has become. @moon_unit was right, I have full blown cactaids There's no hope for a cure either. Not only do I have a couple of choice cuts coming from MUB and an absolutely gorgeous T. Thelegonus coming from ebay but Rodni from trichocereus.com.au was selling cuts from his garden over the weekend so I got my ex to go pick these up for me too. Clearly I'm beyond help so you lot best hope it's not contagious lol

Kinda wish the other name came up when I typed in @ moon though but I guess it must have had something to do with using lower instead of uppercase lettering. It would have been a no brainer picking him if it worked either way but thanks for clearing that up and tagging him for me though

MountainGoat Posted March 11, 2019 wow, nice haul... I noticed they've got water droplets on them, I'm not sure if those cuts have roots or not, but I would recommend that you don't water anything that comes out of the mail for at least a week, and if it doesn't have roots yet i'd wait at least another week on top of that...
Halcyon Daze Posted March 11, 2019 Agreed, the longer you leave them without water, the better. They will produce roots without getting any water anyway, so it's completely unnecessary to water them for few weeks. They'll literally go for months without water.
