Unfamiliar Acacias in New Zealand

Question

Hi all,

On a holiday in Nelson I spotted lots of these trees. Unfortunately none were in flower. Older trees seemed to have only the broad phyllodes where as the younger trees seemed to have a mix of pinnate and broad phyllodes.

Does anyone have any idea what they might be?

I think melanoxyn looks right, I'm not in the area anymore but if I head back that way I'll get a photo

Here's a photo of the trunk bark from an older looking tree, if anyone's interested.

Plenty of Black Wattle / melanoxyn in the South.
That and Acacia baileyana.

Have spotted the odd obtusifolia.

floribunda are prevalent in the North Island and even considered an invasive but I haven't witnessed this.

Bark looks melanoxylon to me:wink:

Texture gets  "chunkier" with age
