Stalling grafts

Recommended Posts

Can anyone explain to me what this is all about?

out of three grafts one started to do the pump end of fall, one of them is doing it since a week, but the third one is just looking dormant still...3 months later.

They all got pretty much the same treatment and are in close proximity of eachother.

Any ideas?

Did you do the grafts? Got pics? At a guess, I would say that the graft didn't take.... Without pics, its hard to tell you though....

I have one pere graft that decided it would rather grow new shoots from it's roots than grow the graft. Scion is still alive, just hasn't done anything in 6 months.

this one was grafted simultaneously (i'm ambidextrous) and took off just this week

3rd one, grafted same day (september 3 2016) and they're all siblings

at a slightly later time i did another graft that never took off

(it looks like its nudging down cause of gravity but that's actually the forum software rotating the picture 90 degrees)

Yeah, with those growth differences you can tell the one that was lined up sweet. But it's not such a big issue, they don't need to line up perfectly to grow, it just affects growth speed, especially in the early stages. Generally, if the scion doesn't die, fall off, or throw roots, the graft will eventually get going... if they throw roots, just put it back in some soil...
