That rules out T. gladiatus and potentially T. neolamprochlorus as well. T. gladiatus only gets up to 65 cm tall and T. neolamprochlorus is described as "relatively low". At that size, it can only be a regional form of T. taquimbalensis / T. werdermannianus. The spines are more typical for T. werdermannianus, while the skin is more typical for T. taquimbalensis. It should be something in between.

It´s a plant from the T. candicans v. gladiatus and T. neolamprochlorus group. They all grow together and are closely related.

Good find, hope to see some more photos in the future. They look almost like T. werdermannianus or T. taquimbalensis, but they are from Argentina. How big is it? If you get the time, please measure the diameter of the areoles and the ribs at the bottom.

managed to successfully get the plant out in one piece.

when i got her home we took her up a hill a bit in the wheel barrow and planted her, i went down to the shed to get some ropes and pickets to support her while she establishes her self, and when i got back the plant has snapped off just above ground level. So i chopped the pup off and the main stem, the pup and the rooted bit are undercover to heal.

main stem is around 1.8m

some shoots with a ruler for scale for the ribs and areoles
