Bush Turkey Posted July 7, 2016 (edited) Introducing "Cliff" Cliff is a special bridgesii with a traceable history. It is a very blue, very short spined bridgesii that has been growing in Perth for 35-40 years. The seeds were collected from a German grower by a lovely, Sumatran man called.....Cliff about 40 years ago. He is not well at the moment so we have been tidying up his garden for him as he doesn't have the strength to do it. The mother plant was massive and on the verge of falling so he asked a few of us to trim it back and keep the cuttings to let other people own this lovely plant. It it is a very special plant indeed. cuttings will be available to purchase this summer and all proceeds will be going to Cliff to help cover his expensive medical bills. Bush Turkey Posted July 7, 2016 There is actually a fair few big mother plants like this around Perth. I know of another bridge that is real fat and a heap of peach mother plants. The first peach I ever found was massive and the guy wanted to get rid of it because the house was being demolished. It took 4 trailer loads

Mapacho Posted July 25, 2016 Hello everyone. I'm new to the forums here. It is good to see this is already going. I have about 10 large 10 medium and 10 small cuttings of "cliff" that I will put up soon. Honestly very glad to help cliff out and look forward to going back to his awesome garden with some financial aid. In saying that I honestly was only ever going to give 50% of proceeds to Cliff. But I will just tally up costs and pay myself $20 an hour for the garden work that I did out of it. This should equate to ~60-70% going to Cliff. Looking forward to seeing these beautiful plants put down some roots!
Halcyon Daze Posted August 2, 2016 A couple of quick questions about Cliff ( the cactus ). Was the original German grower in Germany or OZ or elsewhere? Do you know if the seeds were self pollinated, open pollinated or does 'Cliff' have a known mixed parentage? Would you consider 'Cliff' to be a straight bridge or a bridgessioid? Lovely plant and great story by the way. And nice to keep Cliff's legacy alive and strong. I could see a special place for 'Cliff' in anyone's collection.
Bush Turkey Posted August 3, 2016 (edited) The original German grower is in Germany. Cliff himself brought back a cutting from Germany in the 70's. That is all the information I know about this plant. id call it a straight bridgesii but who knows its a great teacher none the less Edited August 3, 2016 by Bush Turkey
