Psyentist Posted March 16, 2016 Hey guys, Hope you've all been well! I haven't been very active lately, life's been getting in the way, so thought I'd start a thread where I can share some photos of my garden with you. We'll start with some arios, a few astros, a couple aztekium, a gymno, a frailea and a stenocactus...

Psyentist Posted March 16, 2016 Thanks. Yeah, I got it grafted. I haven't done any grafts myself. That would be opening a whole other can of worms and I could see things getting drastically out of hand. Monstrosities and a couple of cereus...

Psyentist Posted March 16, 2016 Thanks a lot guys, they're my pride and joy. I got that plant as a woolunda monster pedro Wert. I loped the top off it recently to give to a friend as a birthday present. Funny that he's pupping from the base now, I would have thought he'd pup from the top. And no, I didn't grow the arios from seed Swiper. I wish! Just ordered a few different types of ario seed so they'll be going down in my next sowing session. Pach, Cordo, Peru and Cuzco all lumped together up next. Because I find it hard to distinguish between some of them...

Conv3rgence Posted March 16, 2016 (edited) yeh grafting is heaps of fun. I grafted for the first time last year and ended up doing about 40 peres, 10 hylo, and 7 pachanoi grafts. Edited March 16, 2016 by Conv3rgence

Master B Posted March 17, 2016 Hey mate Sexual chocolate collection bro!! Are the first 3 in the last post dawsons short spine ,valida shed and garden? Can i also ask what 39 is? Looks like a nice scop x pach. Or reverse Let me know if you need any pere for grafting stock to get started happy to help? Although debatable? it is much easier in my opinion to start with trich stock ( pc pach yowie and super pedro my fav) and use stockings! Nothing else comes close for trich grafts.
etherealdrifter Posted March 17, 2016 rock n roll Psyentist it never ceases to amaze me (and others for sure : )the effort and patience people on sab put into their gardens - what ever they're growing. thank-you for taking the time to post so many photos for gardeners to admire, ogle, question taxonomy etc hope to meet you somewhere and catchup face to face
Psyentist Posted March 17, 2016 Thanks for the kind words guys, much appreciated! Olive and Dood, I'm sure some of my friends and family consider things to already be out of hand. Could you imagine if I started grafting! I reckon they'd call for an intervention. They obviously don't understand the levels of cactus fever I possess. And that's what scares me about starting to graft plants. That just takes things to the next level and I don't think I'm ready for that yet. I've enough on my plate as it is. I'm a patient man, slow and steady wins the race. I'm sure one day though the itch will get strong enough. Thanks for the offer of the pere Master B, but I have a bit growing and some pc too so when that day of itchiness comes I'll be well prepared. It's inevitable really. They all do have names of some sort Smithy but putting them all on here falls squarely into the too hard basket. If there's anything you're curious about just ask. I'll always gladly talk about my babies. No. 17 in the pach/peru post Dood is a huanucoensis courtesy of DiscoStu (thanks mate!) from sacred succulent seed I believe. Can't wait to see him when he's older, should be quite the looker! And you'd be spot on about the first three in last post Master B. Picked them up on a short cactus safari trip I made down to Vic late last year. Probably my three favourite plants. You're on the money with 39 as well. Got that one from Interbeing (legend bro!) as a scop x juuls. Should be another one to keep an eye on as he gets bigger. And Etherealdrifter, the reward of being able to sit out in the serenity of my garden with a beer and a smoke are well worth any effort and patience in my opinion. I'm sure we will meet up one day mate and a great time will be had by all, it's written in the stars. And I very much look forward to it! Cheers, have fun!
