slice Posted February 18, 2016 (edited) I avoid to simply just chop things off when spotting black tissue. Not saying its not a good solution when needed (that´s interpretation) but most of the time I use a few drops of Propolis extract; It will create a waxy layer where you apply it, containing natural antibiotic and anti-fungi. Sometimes presented in an hydro-alcohol solution, it can also act as disinfectant. It works even where other anti fungal fail, probably because of the resin coating and anti viral action. Its very humid inside the greenhouse and every time I cut I apply it as a preventive measure, good for shipping cuts also. Wonder what other growers use... theuserformallyknownasd00d Posted February 18, 2016 If I'm leaving cuts (cactus/succulents) to heal in my also too humid greenhouse, I use dusting sulphur and then dip in some rooting powder. I dunno why I use the rooting powder, but either way it works well if there is enough air flow

zelly Posted February 18, 2016 i leave them alone to fend for themselves. black spots on cacti are like people getting pimples. i had a tip on a variegated tbm pup suddenly turn black, maybe 2cm. I totally ignored it. After awhile it hardened & shrunk back. Its survival of the fittest in my garden, the losers get chucked in the waste bin or composted back into the ground.
