Philocacti Posted May 4, 2015 (edited) Why don't we make individual threads, where each thread is about a specific clone or hybrid. This way, we'll get to see how a clone or a hybrid grows in every countr, plus we'll make it much easier for EG to work on the Trichocereus database. I have 3 specimen from this hybrid, 2 with short spines and 1 with long spines. This is my biggest one..... It's a short spine version I'll post pics of the other 2 later on. Edit - nitrogen is the breeder Edited May 4, 2015 by Philocacti
Evil Genius Posted May 4, 2015 Thanks Philocacti! That´s a great way to see how a cross turned out! Would also be great if we could include the breeder in those threads, because every cross might turn out different and if we know who bred them, it helps to somehow predict how a certain breeder´s plants might look like in the future.

mystical oyster Posted May 4, 2015 (edited) I dont agree with ohlone, but that proves that not everything that looks pc, is pc!! edit* Ive got the reverse x Edited May 5, 2015 by mystical oyster
Caudata Posted May 5, 2015 oh yeah, i don't think its actually pc. just noting the similarity.
Philocacti Posted May 5, 2015 Ohlone - although I've never seen a PC in real life and I wish I could own one (zelly sent me a nice cutting) but the customs refused to give it to me for a fee months, then they destroyed it, but I see where you're coming from. I believe the areols on this one look totally different although both clones have these raised areols sort of look. From pictures I've seen online, PC doesn't get that blue. Mystical Oyster - I'd like to see them

zed240 Posted May 5, 2015 HB02 is a Super Pedro X Psycho0, apparently. Here's a couple of pics of mine. Apparently the Herbalistics clone HB05 is also a Super Pedro X Psycho0 and HB03 is the reverse, Psycho0 X Super Pedro.
gerbil Posted May 5, 2015 Shit hot getafix, you can see the bridge screaming in those genetics and it's starting to look like kimnach/ecuadorian/peru pachanoi. I adore kimnach pachanoi, but I reckon your's is even a little purdier. Super Pedro is such impressive breeding stock.
Berengar Posted May 5, 2015 Zed, my short spined Psycho0 X Super Pedro looks almost identical to your plant! Nice!
nitrogen Posted May 6, 2015 Beautiful hybrid, one of my favs! Here's a few of mine (I didn't breed these btw - PD made the hybrid seed that I grew).. This one I gave to a friend who is growing out in desert conditions: And here's the ones I kept for myself - this is an old pic - they are currently in boarding school at Zelly's place and are like 3-4x bigger than in this pic:

Philocacti Posted May 7, 2015 Great specimen guys, mine are tiny compared to the ones you all got. long spiad Short spined I got these 2 from mitosis, which I believe are the same batch as nitrogen's.

Evil Genius Posted May 8, 2015 By the way. Just like you probably know, Germans love to organize things. Hence my proposal to use a short code for every breeder. Because thats how our German breeding organisation labels their plants. So let´s say, every breeder can pick two or three letters that stand for him as a breeder. In addition, you can add the number of the cross per year. So let´s say that I would use EG and I´d cross Bridgesii x TJG, which would be the 13th cross in 2015. In that case, I would label it EG 13/2015 Tr. Bridgesii x TJG. Well yeah, just a proposal and everyone can label his plants how he wants but this would help to track down a great cross. You know, let´s say you made a cross that produces monstrose offspring, you can totally pin it down to a certain breeder, year and cross. Heck, you could even try the same cross every year again, simply because you have a good documentation of what you breed.

Maxuel Powers III Posted May 12, 2015 I have a psycho/superpedro seed, and have seen many seed grafts of both crosses. Almost 99% or the time the Super Pedro x Psycho produce small spines like a Juuls x Jack, whille 99% of the time the psycho x super pedro is putting off long bridgesii spines by 4 inches. I would love to confirm with everyone that they are posting super pedro x psycho'/s and not vice versa. I've seen many sellers make this mistake on many hybrids. Just something to keep in mind. Philocacti Posted May 12, 2015 I read that the offspring of 2 Trichocereus crossed together, will have a higher % displaying the mother's characteristics.
Evil Genius Posted May 12, 2015 Yes, that´s usually the case but there are exceptions. Especially intergeneric hybrids or multihybrids can look a lot different than their mothers. I will post a cool hybrid this week, which is a Hildewintera x Trichocereus Pachanoi, and the body looks SO MUCH different than the mother. Breeding cacti is fun!
Philocacti Posted May 12, 2015 EG, how about Lophophora X another genus Will the offspring look intermediate between the 2 genera or will it look like on one of the parents?

I have this on 4 seed grown SS02 x Kimura's Spiny Giants. 1 Looks like a short spines Peru with baby blue hue, 2 and 3 look like normal big spined peruvians but thiner spines, and 4 is jsut a honker beast with 4 inch spines all thick as heck. Looked like a bridgesii with about 10 spines on an areola.
