0 Evil Genius Posted April 17, 2015 (edited) Hey mate, amazing plant. Two options. Trichocereus Chilensis, which is very similar. The spination is similar. But the overall look reminds me more of this one. http://trichocereus.net/bk08601-1-trichocereus-sp-isla-del-sol-bolivia/ And the one in the link, I think is a Cuzcoensis or a related species. This is awesome and I hope that you´ll be able to witness the flowers. Looking for seed of this type, because it´s one of my favorites from the Sacred Succulents Field Trips. 0 ☽Ţ ҉ĥϋηϠ₡яღ☯ॐ€ðяئॐ♡Pϟiℓℴϟℴ Posted April 17, 2015 is chilensis thought of as close to arboricola? i get a slight arboricola vibe from your plant but i don't know arboricola well enough yet, just from zellys pics rlly .. -I havent grown it knowingly to get to know it in person yet... 0 Evil Genius Posted April 17, 2015 Yeah they are similar. But Arboricola is a hanging basket cactus and doesn´t get that big.
0 zelly Posted April 18, 2015 But Arboricola is a hanging basket cactus and doesn´t get that big. I somewhat disagree. My biggest arbi is pushin 77 cm tall & shows no signs of being hanging basket material... this one is 61 cm or so tip growth characteristics and this one is perfectly sized (growing in a 10cm pot) for shipping O/S

0 Evil Genius Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) It can grow columnar for a while but at some point, it will grow creeping, clumping or leaning over. Potted plants usually lose their natural shape for a while but if you put it in the ground it will end up looking like this: And this is what a similar sized Arboricola would look like. Still somehwat columnar but leaning over and not really such a strong spination. It has those fine, needle like spines. Have a look at the short distance between the areoles. Zelly, your plant is the only one who has some similarity to Interbeings plant. All other Arboricolas I know look totally different. I mean, maybe your´s is a hybrid or a different subspecies or something like that. I am definitely interested in seeing a flower and a seed pod of this one. Maybe it´s a Arboricola hybrid but it´s already bigger than Arboricola should be and has a really strong spination, compared to what I know from this species. It´s overall appearance is closer to cuzcoensis that Arboricola. But I agree that Zellys plant looks similar at that age and how he grows them. It has really strong spines. 0 Micromegas Posted April 19, 2015 That is a beauty interbeing. Closest I have is T. glaucus from SAB webstore several year ago. But this one you have is prettier.
0 mutant Posted April 19, 2015 Beautiful... Would need some size comparison to really through a guess... is it a terscheckii at its left? I would say a hybrid... throwing a hard guess .... maybe 'Validus' x cuzcoensis ?
