Anodyne Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) Quingtuan is basically the same thing as Daifuku, only Chinese and coloured and flavoured with some sort of Artemisia. There's a type of daifuku (yomogi daifuku) which are the same as qingtuan... but looking at those characters on the packet, they match the Chinese characters (below), so I think you've nailed it Tangich. From the wikipedia page about qingtuan... Qingtuan Simplified Chinese 青团 Literal meaning: verdant lump Lol ..."verdant lump"... so the name really does mean "green blob"! Yawning Man Posted March 27, 2015 So what did it taste like?
Geebus Posted March 29, 2015 Haha that is so cool! A verdant lump indeed. The outer coating tasted like bland rice flavoured store bought play dough. The bean paste filling was yummy it was sweet and beany if the outside was softer and had more flavour it would have been delicious. The texture of the coating was odd and hard to get past haha.
