Dolomite turning green overnight

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, mods move if necessary...

I applied some Dolomite to some plants that are growing a little slower than I would like, and watered it in with some Seasol. The next day, some of the Dolomite has turned a bright green. It does not look like mold, but rather a chemical reaction.

Google isn't helping me. Does anyone know what is happening, and is it bad?

algae....lay off the watering...loved the pH change and seasol goodness

may need to scrape the top off and replace if it wont tame down ....otherwise water wont penetrate as well.

EDIT - actually looks like a lotta dolomite for those size pots (?) and the colour don't look right to me

ah ty. i will scape off the top layer and let things dry out a little. it's been pretty wet here lately. i've seen algae before but was surprised by the brightness of the green, seemed like more of a drastic chemical reaction to me
