Trichocereus ?

Question

Hello All,

This is my first post..........after being on for a while trying to gain knowledge from all of you. I have been on other forums and have traded with some of you. First, I will THANK all of you for my gained knowledge from reading the many posts and getting me back into collecting  I acquired this unlabeled Trichocereus some time ago without a label and am curious what you guys think?

Hello T-rich, this is an AWESOME Plant! I think it´s some kind of Soehrensia. Most likely Soehrensia Grandis or Soehrensia Bruchii, aka Trichocereus Bruchii. Now, Soehrensia are placed in Echinopsis. But will have a closer look at it during the week. I have the worst flu I had in years.

I agree that it would seem to be one of your guesses. I have never seen this species before that i know of but after looking them up it looks like one or the other.

It has a lot of Ribs for that size. There are some Terscheckii/Pasacana with up to 18 Ribs but it´s rather rare and this just does not look like a standard columnar cactus to me. I grow some Soehrensias and this One has the typical look. The Plants in the lower pics are very similar and the Rib Structure just looks odd. Look at the rounded Ribs. The same as on the Soehrensias.
Would really like to see a Pic from the Top to see new Growth.

Thanks for all the input and help! I will get a pic from the top and one of the mom posted in a few hours. She is HUGE!!! Probably in the 12 foot range with massive thick columns.

Yes, please do that. If it is that big, it might not be a Soehrensia. And when you do, please count the ribs on the motherplant.

Ok, great. What color has the flower? Terscheckii and Pasacana Flowers are white. Soehrensias are oftenly not, though i have to check about Bruchii.

Ok, here are the pics.....I took pics from two different clones about 30 Yards from each other.Mother plant has 15 ribs....early cutting pics that was posted came from clone 1. Both plants were roughly in the ground in the same year, but plants where planted at different sizes. They are labeled Terscheckii..

Yeah, that thing is a monster! I am sure getting LOTS of water from that orchard next to it.....looking back at the pic, the fence is five feet from the ground, but that bed is raised about 12". So really that is a 4' fence from the soil level of the BEAST!!!

Clone two taken a few weeks ago. I'm pretty sure it's going to take down that fence soon.

And around 5/7/14, cropped just above the fence line.

I cut one of mine around 1/9/14 to get some pups.

Here it is 4/18/14 just starting to pup.

The tip went to a friend in Florida. I believe it's rooted now. I'll post it up if I can get a picture from him.
