Clone ID's & Maybe Monstrose [image heavy]

Question

Recent gardening efforts have prompted me to question what some of these trich sitting around in the yard actually are? I know a few names as far as sp. are concerned, but I'll admit I'm not the best with ID. Do these look like known var or are they just random hybrids?

Just my view from the clumper perspective.

1, T. cuzcoensis

2, 4, 5, 6, T. bridgesii in form, but I can't help much on what clone. What makes you think clone instead of seed grown?

3, 7, 8, 9, T. pachanoi or T. peruvianus sorts, or anything in between, or even random hybrids.

10, PC

11, longer spined form of T. scopulicola, aka T. cordobensis.

Cool photography, were those taken in dawn ?

I agree with michael overall

but I am not lumping pachanoi with peruvianus yet , except there are dna tests at last

in my eyes, peruvianus and macrogonus is blue, pachanoi are seldom blue. not much of a scientific criterion, I know, but its like not clumping trichos and echinopsis togethers: practical, and taxonomy is about practically naming and treeing organisms...

so 3 = cat really tell, I would say pachanoi or maybe hybrid, the blueing suggests a hint of peruvianus too...

7 pachanoi, might be "yowie"

8 strange, maybe a hybrid [pachanoi X ?? ]

9 "true blue" peruvianus, looks a bit like "los gentiles" or "icaro"

11 yep looks like super pedro / lance / cordobensis or even 'rob'

pachanoi are seldom blue

When you make statements such as that, perhaps you should use qualifiers, such as "In my garden" or "In my experiences", because in my garden my pachanois are most definitely bluish, even in full sun.

Can't help much with the ID, but just wanted to say you got some lovely plants there. The spines on some of them are beautiful!

Totally agree. In all tests i did, bluing was directly related to the enviroment. In my case, extreme exposition to sunlight and the lack of water. Tested it two years in a row. Cuttings that were on the top shelve of the greenhouse were extremely blue. No matter what species or variety.

I'm with EG and zelly.

Hey Mutant, can you put an "Other" option in your poll and open it up for written responses? I can't honestly answer two of the four questions and have to answer all four to participate.

Zelly there's a "in my eyes" there, you probably missed it.

michael, DONE!

EG, strange, as I have definately more sun than germany, but I dont get blueing kk339 or NZ pach or Yowie.

Maybe it has to be in more shade?

Anyways as far as I am concerned it has to do with certain strains.

What makes you think clone instead of seed grown?

I can't be sure for 4, 6 & 7, but the rest were planted from cuttings.

Cheers for the ID's Michael and Mutant, I had previously thought the Cuzco was a Peru and knew something different was going on with number 11, but hadn't realised it was a cordobensis. Yowie looks right imo after comparing with a google search and following a few links. I'm also wondering if 6 is Eileen, what do you think?

Here's some pics of them together :)

Hi Mutant, i wasn´t aware of this until i saw it. It happened by Accident when i left some mixed Cuttings (Peruvianus, Pachanoi, Bridgesii) on the top shelf of the galvanized (!) Metal Shelf in my greenhouse. It must have been very hot and bright there. After both summers, they were frosting blue. Some still are bot others have reverted to normal.
