2 Trichocereus ID

Question

What are these guys , I can't ID anything with confidence anymore , due to all the confusion with pach macrogonus and peruvianus . I feel like I know nothing about trichs anymore. Not to mention the rampant crossing in cultivation.

Can you help a guy out the little one was sold as some sort of pach x peru or vice versa . The other was unlabeled but I think it looks awesome , maybe a peruvinoid ? Maybe ?

Edit: I know I posted in the wrong section , thought I was in the ID section , I'm on mobile and it's easy to mess up , I apologize.

Hi Junkhead! First one is some kind of KK242 Type Cuzcoensis. Second one is most likely what Backeberg Called Trichocereus Tarmaensis. As the name indicates, it´s a Peruvianoid that grows around Tarma in Peru. Wonderful Cactus, especially when bigger!

Thanks for the replies .

So how stable are the spine characteristics T. Tarmaensis , because I bought a peruvianus var tarmaensis a while back that looked nothing like this , I'm guessing it was mislabeled?

It is not stable at all. It´s just some kind of regional variety that is as variable as all other Tricho´s too. Do you have pics of your other Plant that was labeled as Tarmaensis? And who labeled it Tarmaensis? Because it´s rare that people actually use that label. You know, it´s basically just a Peruvianus that grows around Tarma. And as with every other regional Population, every plant can look different. Backeberg made up that name to get some descriptions on his belt. :)

It was labeled tarmaensis by an auction site seller, as you know , they can never lie :)

It doesn't really look like my new cutting or your pic . Here are some pics , I apologize for the quality , they are old.

I can get clear pics but they are just stumps nowpost-13369-0-27349600-1399034215_thumb.ppost-13369-0-69830700-1399034241_thumb.jpost-13369-0-18338000-1399034296_thumb.j

Well, can´t really see anything but thanks for making pics. Wouldn´t say that it´s impossible that this turns out to be a Tarmaensis Type Tricho when it gets bigger, but right now with the pics i see, i can´t really say anything for certain. Please post some more pics when it´s bigger. It looks interesting, no matter what. And since it is really rare that someone offers sth as Tarmaensis, it might really be one. :)

junk, yours looks like the form most commonly called T. macrogonus, but which is just one of the forms in the pach/peru spectrum. Here's a T. tarmaensis.

Hmmm ok thanks .

Either way it's a beauty and I'm keeping it haha.

That tarmaensis looks similar to my first "tarmaensis" but mine also had a few differences , I'll see when it pups again. Yours is much better on the eyes than mine , that's for sure.
