1st Loph flowers < 6 months (16 @ 230 days)

Recommended Posts

Yeah I have been playing in them with a paint brush, but I am not sure if they are self fertile or not. Fortunately they are two different seedlings. The split one finally opened two days ago, so I was able to mix the two.

Tic Tac Toe, 3 in a row! #11 opened tonight, however I honestly don't think there is any room left for new flowers.
The cacti gods sure did bless me with this plant. It has been spectacular to watch over the past couple of weeks. I hope you all have enjoyed it as well. These plants are truly magnificent creatures, and I'm just lucky to be along for the ride.

We are the ghosts of flowers past. As you can see I accidentally knocked two one of the shriveled buds off a while ago. It's still nearly impossible to tell, but I think I can see bud #12 under all the hair.

I noticed that its been almost a month since I measured these guys and figured it was best to get out of the way before the flowers come again.

Man I starting to worry, I thought I had done something to upset her. Of course every time I would ask her "Baby whats the matter?", she'd give me typical female response, "I'm fine!" She hasn't put out in over a week...but I think she's going to give it to me some again real soon :wink:

Since this plant hasn't flowered yet, I tend not to take many pictures of it. However, I realize it's not fair to show favoritism towards the other two, when this plant is just as beautiful. Besides I'm pretty sure the only reason it hasn't quite made it there yet is because it's never had any pups removed, where as the other two have.

Plus I don't think its going to take much longer to see a few buds. It's ok if you show up to the party a little late, just as long as you show up ready to party! :bong:

Figures, I would have bad luck with #13. This one opened last night, but I thought that it was #12 still. Then I realized today that wash' the case. Sadly, It doesn't seem like she is going to open back up tonight :(. I crossed it both ways with my P. Haselbergii just for fun since they were both open. Not expecting it to take, but you never know unless you try.... #14 is on its way :)

A sonnet is a fourteen line poem.

A sonnet has a strict rhyme structure.

Each line contains ten syllables.

William Shakespeare wrote 154 sonnets.

Sonnet #14

Not from the stars do I my judgement pluck;
And yet methinks I have Astronomy,

But not to tell of good or evil luck,
Of plagues, of dearths, or seasons' quality;
Nor can I fortune to brief minutes tell,
Pointing to each his thunder, rain and wind,
Or say with princes if it shall go well
By oft predict that I in heaven find:
But from thine eyes my knowledge I derive,
And, constant stars, in them I read such art
As truth and beauty shall together thrive,
If from thyself, to store thou wouldst convert;

Or else of thee this I prognosticate:
Thy end is truth's and beauty's doom and date.

Sonnet # 15

When I consider every thing that grows
Holds in perfection but a little moment,
That this huge stage presenteth nought but shows
Whereon the stars in secret influence comment;
When I perceive that men as plants increase,
Cheered and checked even by the self-same sky,
Vaunt in their youthful sap, at height decrease,
And wear their brave state out of memory;
Then the conceit of this inconstant stay
Sets you most rich in youth before my sight,
Where wasteful Time debateth with decay
To change your day of youth to sullied night,
And all in war with Time for love of you,
As he takes from you, I engraft you new.

Sonnet # 16

But wherefore do not you a mightier way
Make war upon this bloody tyrant, Time?
And fortify your self in your decay
With means more blessed than my barren rhyme?
Now stand you on the top of happy hours,
And many maiden gardens, yet unset,
With virtuous wish would bear you living flowers,
Much liker than your painted counterfeit:
So should the lines of life that life repair,
Which this, Time's pencil, or my pupil pen,
Neither in inward worth nor outward fair,
Can make you live your self in eyes of men.
To give away yourself, keeps yourself still,
And you must live, drawn by your own sweet skill.

Well i'll be damned, looks like we have another remarkable coincidence... Although tonight just happens to be a full moon, clearly there is no significant correlation between :bootyshake: phases and flowers buds.

This also has to be a fluke, since its' the first pup to flower.

Nope, you still won't convince me these things are synchronized.... Even if they are the first buds we've seen on this plant :blink:

The full moon was a few days ago? Yeah my turbi was in bloom again with the moon.

Also the only fruit to form has matured and I got my first seeds. The circle is almost complete.

I was out of town the past couple of days. I had a great weekend, but confess that I was a bit concerned the flowers would open in my absense. While I would hate to miss the beautiful show, it was the fresh pollen that I didn't want to lose. So naturally, when I finally made it home, the first thing I did was check on my plants.

:lol: This flower was just opening. I have noticed they are fairly photosensitive (some more than others) and have had a few try to close while I was taking pictures. I had to be quick, because that's exactly what was happening to this one.

“Earth laughs in flowers, to see her boastful boys
Earth-proud, proud of the earth which is not theirs;
Who steer the plough but cannot steer their feet
Clear of the grave.”

More flowers = more smiles! :lol:

Sonnet # 17

Who will believe my verse in time to come,
If it were filled with your most high deserts?
Though yet heaven knows it is but as a tomb
Which hides your life, and shows not half your parts.
If I could write the beauty of your eyes,
And in fresh numbers number all your graces,
The age to come would say 'This poet lies;
Such heavenly touches ne'er touched earthly faces.'
So should my papers, yellowed with their age,
Be scorned, like old men of less truth than tongue,
And your true rights be termed a poet's rage
And stretched metre of an antique song:
But were some child of yours alive that time,
You should live twice, in it, and in my rhyme.

Sonnet # 18

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed,
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course untrimmed:
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st,
Nor shall death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st,
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
