i dont have digital camera

but am kinda a tech fetish person

so have done all the research

basically

the hottest digital camera is the

canon ixus 400

very small so you can always have it on you

which is a major bonus in my mind

very very happy customers and reviewers

about $1000 though

as for cheaper cameras

it probably depends on local specials

good deals are to be had on models

that have just been replaced

The amount of megapixels is important, 2 being the starting range up to about five, 2 will give good pictures for uploading to the net and look great on computer however if you want to devolope them they arnt the best and you will only get regular size photos from them, the camera i bought is an olympus c-120 with two megapixels and 2.5x digital zoom and a macro setting. price $325 from Big W. as you can see above it takes great pictures for the net and the software allows you to do all sorts of snazy shit like zooming right in and a panorama setting as well. for me this was a good buy and is exactly what i was after. :)

Yeah they're good gear-make sure your computer has USB port-transferring is a sinch!

Try E-Bay for a second hand unit maybe??

I have been using a Sony Mavica FD88 (FD for floppy disk) for about three years but just bought myself a Sony Mavica MVC-CD350 which uses those small 200 MB CD's. It's a wonderful camera that has an effective meg pixel resolution of up to 3.2 Meg pix. If your just shooting 1 meg pix photo's a single CD can hold close to a couple hundred fine resolution pictures before filling one up and over 1200 pics on a single CD if using 640 X 480 standard resolution. You can also use a re-writeable disk so you don't need to change it out if you don't want to, just download through USB to your computer and format it and start all over.

Here are the resolutions:

• 2048 x 1536 3 MP. - CD: 145 standard pics, 81 fine.

• 2048 x 1360 (3:2) - CD: 145 standard pics, 81 fine.

• 1632 x 1224 2 MP. - CD: 234 standard pics, 131 fine.

• 1280 x 960 1 MP. - CD: 345 standard pics, 194 fine.

• 640 x 480 VGA. - CD: 1284 standard pics, 644 fine.

This camera isn't small, like some of the new ones but it sure fits my needs as a amateur photographer. Price, from $400 to $500 USD, depending where you buy it. A few years ago a 1.3 meg pixel was the minimum resolution recommended for amateur photographers and about about 2 meg pix the minimum desired by the pro's, today professionals want 5 meg pixel. What will it be in five years?

Here is one that I took using the CD350 set to macro, shooting through a 10X hand held lense to photograph some extremely small Salvinorin crystals:

A few pics I have been taking with my two Sony Mavica's at the following link. The ones posted within the last three days have all been the CD350 camera:
