DiscoStu Posted January 17, 2014 just wondering how many people here still own the first cactus they ever bought. i've got mine, granted that was only a short few years ago. a few bridge cuts from herbalistics, a 4 ribbed achuma and a "melted wax" bridgesii. hostilis Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) I had some succulents a long time ago, but those died. Although I first ordered a batch of 12 bridgesii seedlings which was only a year and a half ago. I killed off a lot of them, but I have a few more going and I grafted one that went 4 ribbed. Edited January 23, 2014 by hostilis
DiscoStu Posted January 17, 2014 actually ima go back some, and say a hawarthia (attenuata?) and maybe a oreocereus or a Cephalocereus they're both at my mums house busy being neglected, tyhe hawarthia is quite large now although very root bound, the "old man" cactus the same, beein in the same pot for some 15 years and is barely over 30cm in height. i remember too us kids going down to the beach with my dad and picking a succulent of some sort, my mum still has that although she says she can't remember where it came from "maybe it came from the adelaide show"
Brendo Posted January 17, 2014 Yep still got mine. Was labelled Scopulicola, however looks more like a PC pachanoi, it's thrown out a fair few pups, one of which is now in the ground, another i'm using as grafting stock
Kykeion Posted January 17, 2014 First cactus? No, sadly those are long gone. First cactus I bought? Yup. It is a T. pach, probably PC.
Slocombe Posted January 18, 2014 I don't have my first cactus anymore - my five year old self didn't want to keep it after I accidentally landed ass first on it! Now I have a nice young spineless cactus to keep me company

SayN Posted January 23, 2014 First cactus was given to me in June 2006 as a milestone birthday present. Straight from Wandjina Gardens via motorbike (my friend lives in Mullumbimby) to Seal Rocks for the "boys weekend". Seems like yesterday, sigh... That cactus went on to birth a whole family of cactus including my first pach flower posted a couple of weeks ago. So yeah, I still well and truly own it.

J Smith Posted January 24, 2014 The tall psycho0 in the background is the first named clone I bought (from pd in 2008). The fat short one to the right of it is one of the first 3 I bought (at the same time from Hamiltons), from slightly earlier in 2008.

juzzoa Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) Rebutia 'Sunrise' (heliosa x albiflora) 16 Years ago I purchased this tiny cactus as a present for my parents. It sat on the windowsill for 6 years before dying from neglect. Luckily I was able to pluck a small head just before this happened. It has been growing happily ever since, and has been divided many times. It produces some brilliant flower blooms every year. jacocereus Posted January 31, 2014 Had the cam out today so i thought id jump onboard! This is my first cacti, got it from bunnings 2-3 years ago, no idea what it is! Any thoughts? Im leaning towards a pach/scop hybrid. Ive read somewhere that they stocked them (unnamed) for a while?
