zelly
hey i wanna really thank you mates for posting up pics of your grafting skills, they really are awe inspiring.  as grafted, the seedlings just look so magnificently healthy and a real joy to look at.  In stark comparison, at best i manage to grow a few out on their own roots, the ones that dont die off anyway.....heres some 7 month old seedlings of ss02xss01 x red grandi as comparison to the above....
Enrique sanchez
It wouldn't be possible without your fine self. Thank you so much for the opportunity to grow something so beautiful! I've still got a bunch going on there own roots and I've been growing them hard outside, fingers and toes crossed, they are still kicking along and are slowly still growing. Enrique sanchez
The cross that has surprised me is the oscar x helen that I can see you have going there as well. I've got a couple of crests and what looks like a little monstrose sucker as well. Did you yourself see much variance in that cross at all?
zelly
Oscar started life one of 4-5 of the same hybrid seedlings of unknown parentage all growing together in a pot.  Eventually the pot was planted in the ground and one column really took off.  Another seedling grew normal for a bit then went totally monstrous.  A third and fourth seedling went semi monstrous and the fifth seedling is looking pretty normal.  All but the first are nearly spineless or really small spines.  The monstrous plant first grew a Y with both legs of the Y cresting, now one leg is reverting back to a somewhat columnar growth.  Just now I'm in the process of transplanting the seedlings from the tub to pots, who knows, maybe I'll find a few freaks among them.

cactamateur
Here is an update to my first post some months ago (Juuls X LJ, and germinated spring 2015). These two are from the same pot as my second pic in my last post. Very little growth, but they've been quite neglected: Â Â Â And here is one from the same original batch that has been repotted multiple times, and clearly better taken care of. Approximately double the height and double the diameter of the large one above: Â Â It's nearly two inches in height. Two protrusions are visible out its side - I'm assuming it's a premature attempt to flower? Or are these attempts to root because of extremely dry conditions? zelly
quick survey.....I've one more flower of TPM opening in the next few days.  The two available pollen donors are sharxx blue (Thanks Nitro!) or variegated red grandiflorus.   both pollens are fresh & viable   which one would you mates suggest?
