more surprises, only just noticed these, taken as cuttings around the end of December, im in the process of moving so they haven't been planted yet, this is where most of my rosei1 and 2 pollen came from.

I guess these are rosei1 open pollinated, the other is rosei2, looks like they've taken.

im surprised they've both fruited for a few reasons, one is because im not gentle when im removing pollen

Nah, the SS means Short Spined. It comes from a garden in South Australia. Some guy who doesn't really know much about cactus sometimes sells cuts of it on ebay. I got mine a couple of years ago. Seems like some kind of hybrid, grows pretty slow.

Nice work mate some of those look massive.

I would have thought the ss would have had a terscheckii type flower? Seems pretty standard flower? Am i wrong?

Also had a hit with your scop pollen on whiora..... So it all has me miffed?

Yeah, there's a few fruits in there that are an impressive size!

And yeah, I agree, the SA SS Tersch flower definitely looks pretty similar to a pach flower in a whoe bunch of aspects like; length of tube, shape, direction it's pointing. I have no idea what it really is to be honest, it was sold as a terscheckii and I know it is in a number of peoples collections these days as Short Spined Tersch or SA Short spined tersch. But who knows, maybe it's a pach X Tersch or something??:scratchhead: It is a pretty good looking thing though. Can't wait for it to get a spot in the ground and put on some real size.

Was thinking that as well, I would be really surprised if this wasn't a hybrid. Still an awesome plant tough.

I received some seeds from this plant crossed with scopulicola and yowie from another member last year, a couple of them are a few cm now grafted and getting ready for this growing season. The interesting thing is, xYowie has very short spines, especially for a plant that young, while the xScop has very long centrals. I can't wait to see what they'll grow into.

Btw, amazing plants and fruits Zed!
