As I said, I'm talking about places like remote communities. I'm not about to go and try to explain how they are. Sure, make more substances easier to acquire and easier for people to abuse, I'm just as keen as anyone else to see what happens when they're all addicted to opiates instead of alcohol and tobacco. maybe give them access to whatever sort of amphetamines they like eh?? Especially when considering how much trouble some of the more 'enlightened' cunts have managing their own addictions as it is!!!

do you see the point yet?? I think yall need to visit an old mission

These remote communities you talk about currently already have full access to illegal drugs. It may go dry every once in a while, but that does not have any kind of positive effect. It just raises the prices of these drugs to even more outrages prices, which just creates even more poverty, domestic violence, broken families and crime in general in these already extremely poverty stricken communities. Plus, if you’d actually been though these communities and seen all the people with amputated limbs and full blown brain damage from sniffing cheap and easily accessible petrol, then how could you not come to the conclusion that allowing them easier access to there yandi or whatever wouldn’t be a positive thing?

Anyway, I don’t think anyone in their right mind is proposing to just legalise all drugs like tobacco and alcohol and make it a free for all.

Though, in a sane world cannabis would be fully legalised and sold in shops to people over 18 just like alcohol, you’d also be able to grow your own like you can currently brew your own beer. This in itself would save thousands of young teenagers from developing a serious drug habit at a very young age, I remember as a 13 year old kid, my friends and I were always amused of the irony that we could always easily score weed, but it was always a huge stuff around hooking up a few cigarettes for the mix.

Legalising cannabis would also be a massive blow to organised crime, since cannabis is such a huge industry and is where they make most of their money. Vulnerable non-violent people would also not constantly have there lives destroyed by being dragged though the criminal justice system (which costs the tax payers a fortune, if nothing else) and the mentally ill would no longer be refused treatment because they use illegal drugs, which would have a massive positive effect on society in general.

Heroin and meth would obviously be available to addicts only by prescription from a doctor. These drugs are not much different to some of the pharmaceuticals that are already available, except for the stigma that’s attached to them and the fact that addiction is not usually considered a valid reason to prescribe them. Doing that would at least automatically kill the illegal heroin trade, since drug dealers don’t make their money from recreational heroin users. It would also turn addicts from criminals to patients overnight and would also give the government an idea into how, why and where people are using these drugs so they can better allocate funds for harm reduction and create far better health outcomes.

Just imagine how much the general crime rate would drop, if meth and heroin addicts where able to get there fix at a pharmacy with a healthcare card and not be forced to source ridiculous amounts of money to get themselves even.

Stimulants would be available in liquid form, from nightclubs and at festivals, as would ecstasy in pill form. That would at least kill those illegal trades to at least to the same level as say, the illegal tobacco industry and create huge harm minimisation outcomes for young people & society as a whole and would be a massive relief on the courts and criminal justice system, freeing them up to deal with property & violent crimes much more effectively.

Then hallucinogens like LSD & DMT would be available at specialised clubs, with relaxed atmospheres and specially trained psychologists on hand.

Obviously, ‘all’ plants would be legal to grow for personal use.

There you go, problem solved! It doesn’t take a genius, just a little bit of logical thought and not getting your mind all confused and held down by social stigmas. It would also free up massive amounts of funds to deal with the negative effects that are currently already occurring from drug use and allow the government to concentrate on dealing with actual crime, making society a safer and better place to live in general.

I note that in the last week drug importers into this country have begun hiding ephedrine in rice from India, and recovering it by sieving.

It's only one short step from hiding drugs in food, to hiding it as food.

^^^There’s no market for it, so I doubt you’d ever find it happening on a large scale. That’s why people take the risk of carrying around a bulky bag of stinking erb, rather than infusing it into undetectable cannabutter.

Most people are looking for something they can smoke, pop, snort or shoot when buying drugs.

All the synthetic Cannabanoids are active orally. I see a new round of Space Cake coming on. What about Special Sauces or Drinks. You could add these chems to alcoholic drinks for some real special psychotic breakdowns, hey at least the violent alcoholic situations might be toned down with a JWH beer.... LOL

Meh, I'm just thinking about places like remote communities. Obviously you people have never fucking been to one.

blah blah blah

do you see the point yet?? I think yall need to visit an old mission

I think you need to watch this film before you go to a mission next http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwuJbJaCLtc&feature=youtu.be

you might not be so judgmental if you have a understanding of why remote communities are the way they are.

A necessary and beautiful film, Kanyini looks at the world's oldest living culture in a way that's never been seen before.

A listed traditional owner of Uluru, former Indigenous Person of the Year, Bob Randall acts as our guide to "Kanyini" which he describes as the principle of connectedness through caring and responsibility that informs all aspects of Aboriginal life.

Bob poingnantly explains why his people are now struggling in a modern world and what needs to be done for them to move forward. As Bob explains, "The Earth is our Mother. That makes you and me brother and sister".

I agree with SunChaser, when I made my original comment that's exactly the kind of scenario I was envisioning.

The world, or at least the area where the laws reflected those ideals, would be a much safer and happier place.

Money that previously went to organised crime would be available, through taxes, for treatment, education and policing.

Torsten had it right on the previous page as well, the Portugal approach has shown that this can work and is effective at achieving what our government says it wants to do.

That is stop organised crime, control drug use, take the power away from bikie gangs, keep the public safe, provide health care, educate people and have a well funded police force.

Ticks all the boxes from where I stand, not to mention it would almost stop illegal drug use overnight. If people have legal ways to enjoy drugs they are less likely to obtain them illegally.

Of course some people would try to get more than a medically considered healthy amount but when they went to get their legal dose from a professional they can flag them as someone that might need some treatment and/ or education. Would be a good way or picking up on mental health issues early now that I'm thinking about it.

There will always be people who want to take too much and become 'addicts' but there are plenty of people in this position now, at least with the proper framework in place there are mechanisms to pick up on it and offer some help, rather than simply making them a criminal and making their life worse as well as those around them.

Thanks for the link teamwhy I'm going to watch it right now.....

Goes to support the fact that the more they criminalize these substances the less there is known about them

Agree completely. Moreover, the more they fight to ban them, the more unknown variants we see coming out.

So, we now seem to have more drugs than ever before, more potent, cheaper (if talking about RCs), and more available to anyone who has acccess to a PC and credit card (or bank transfer details).

And the grand irony is that in virtually every article printed after a death occurs related to someone taking an unknown substance, the authorities trot out the very same line: "The fact is, these substances are made by criminals and you don't know what's it them. Your gambling with your life when you take one of these pills or new legal highs."

Yes, this is true. Many (perhaps most) young people who buy random pills for a concert of club outing have no way of knowing what's in them, because the authorities won't stop attempting to apply the 'if you ignore it, it will go away' approach.

Instead, we get the exact opposite. NBOMEs being sold as LSD. Synthetic cannabis being sold as herbal smokes or incense. PVs being sold as cocaine 'alternatives'. Every one of them less understood and more dangerous than it's parent substance; LSD, marijuana, and and even cocaine could be said to be far, far safer to take. There is a wealth of information about their functions, dosages, appropriate action to take in case of overdose, etc.

The NBOMEs are ridiculously potent, and are very interesting compounds. I don't think they should be banned, but they need to be understood as they're clearly not as physically benign or predictable as LSD.

The early days of ''spice" the synthetic cannabinoid, contain JWH 018 seem positively safe compared to whatever the hell is doing the rounds in the forever changing novelty blends at present. At least the earlier cannabinoids actually resembled (and often very closely) actual marijuana. From what people tell me these days, the new smoke blends have effects that are nothing whatsoever like weed, and some are insanely potent (I haven't touched those for years and you couldn't pay me to try any of the new ones).

Now, a substance like M_PV or it's close relative alpha... .these are things that are hard to justify the existence of. And this is from someone who has been quite partial to a bit of PV vaping in the past, despite the horrible effects it delivers. Not sure what purpose these things could possibly have when we already have a range of highly functional, powerful, and well studied stimulants - amphetamine, methylphenidate, ephedrine, cocaine. Do we need something like the PVs? For what?

At the very least, the information about them should be checked adn confirmed and made readily available to anyone. It's the knowledge that makes the difference between life and death.

So, I find it bitterly ironic when the police are quoted as saying: These substances are dangerous because you don't know what's in them. So just don't take them.

Wow! Brilliant simplicity. I'm sure if they keep saying that, people will stop experimenting with new substances because they can't get anything else.

Talk about burying your head in the sand....

Im not impressed with your comment, Everyone likes to cut loose from time to time. Its not your or anyone else's job to tell people how much they can and cant take. If someone wants to have more then what they would be aloud to have, who cares! not everyone is an addict and in need of education and treatment. sometime people just want to get fucked up for the weekend and be happy.
