A few trichocereus

Question

1. From Hamiltons, labelled as Trichocereus Peruvianus, "Not for human consumption."

Suspect pach or scop x bridge?

2. Pachanoi, sourced from Sydney vendor. Told was seed grown from South American seeds.

3. Pacahnoi, sourced from same vendor. Same story.

4. Labelled 'Trichocereus Peruvianus', sourced from Hamiltons.

---------------

I am largely unfamiliar with the PC pach forms in Aus, but I would be interested to know if 2 and 3 are common clones. 2 has very short spines but is definitely not the common scop clone that I also have.

Likewise, would be interested to see what others think about 1 & 4.

Many thanks,

G.

#1 & #4 are common seed grown 'peruvianus' from Hamiltons. They are really variable and hard to ID with any surety. Hamiltons assure me that buy all of their Trichocereus seed from one vendor in Europe as either T.bridgesii, T.pachanoi or T.peruvianus, but as we all know seed vendors often mis-ID plants or allow them to crossbreed. Mine are too young to tell at this stage, but I have a whole range of plants from there that I simply lump together as peruvianoid or pachanoid.

#2 & #3 are the two dominant types from Urban Tribes. I have both and I have always called them T.pachanoi. They are not common as such, but they are definitely around as U.T. have been selling for a long time and years ago they supplied some of the head shops in Australia. IME, #3 can sometimes look like the PC clone, and I'm pretty sure I've seen it sold as PC before, so perhaps there is a fair bit of it around. Also looks a bit like the 'Alf' clone from SAB, but I think that clone looks like PC too.

No. 4 remindes me of my seed grown 'pachanoi' peruvianoid from Köhres seed stock. Yours might be a similar plant, maybe the same seeds if Hamiltons do get their seed from europe.

I have something very similar to no 1 it was sold to me as a Peru but I have such a hard time believing it's a Peru. It just looks like a pachanoi it doesn't get very thick and it pups at about 40cm just my opinion tho.

Nothing would seem to rule out all three of the first being forms of T. pachanoi, but the first might still be a little young to really tell. The second looks like one of my T. pallarensis, but the third is classic T. pachanoi I'd say. The last one with the longer spines is definitely the oddity. If it's a T. peruvianus it's the least glaucus one I have ever seen...it's probably just a mut, something a great deal of cultivated plants will be in the coming years with all the crossing, intentional or otherwise, along with the inability to maintain tags, especially if you pass plants on to others who maybe aren't as organized.

2. would cut my balls this is a clear scopulicola

3. maybe pachanoi, but maybe a spinier scop

4. it looks like a cuzcoensis in my eyes...
