waterboy 2.0 Posted March 8, 2014 Hey Stillman, thats looking good you changed your fertilizer regime for this one outta interest?
Stillman Posted March 8, 2014 Used a lot of Plant of health products gone all organic used some myco products in the soil too, regular foliar spraying but gave it a hell of a lot more water so far and a greater prepared bed so have a bigger buried vine root mass to pull from.
waterboy 2.0 Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) lol....I am aiming for a larger bed next year to get more buried...I use some spent potting mix to cover the vine really just to anchor the bastard in parts off the bed. Definitely using myco gear next year...I tried Great White and liked it ...liked it a lot Edited March 8, 2014 by waterboy
waterboy 2.0 Posted March 10, 2014 (edited) Taped it up again today I am getting an estimated 417lbs to 421lbs of pumpkin.... still ticking...getting fatter in the mid section Still putting out new growth on the vines, the older sections are looking done though, current warm temps are helping a lot. Stillman Posted March 10, 2014 about 23 days looking good so far but its been drizzly weather and the powdery mildew is looming.
teonanacatl Posted March 14, 2014 Just to make it easy to find, what did you other pumpkin weigh in at Stillman? Waterboy how much longer do you have till your's is done?
waterboy 2.0 Posted March 14, 2014 (edited) Its slowed up a bit now Teo, frost will cut it back "soon" .....this years weather has been so random its hard to put my finger on a termination/end date. I cannot discount an early light snow putting an end to it either as well. I am already getting ready for the first inside small fire of the year for heat.......now exposing the fruit to sun all day now to get some heat into it and to get it to harden/colour up. At night its covered with an old throw rug/sheets to keep the heat in and keep any bush rodents at bay 'cause they are seeking food. I haven't discounted a bush rat chewing a hole in it......they'll get no rest if that's the case....I'll take them all if that happens - currently we are at peace...lol Edited March 14, 2014 by waterboy
Stillman Posted March 14, 2014 my first one taped at 260kg but was probably more like 240kg which is 530 pounds. I hope this one gets as big, Waterboy thats got such a wild shape to it looking healthy I reckon it will keep growing as long as the vine does.

Stillman Posted March 20, 2014 Nice one WB love the head gear. Here's my Ekka pumpkin 35 days. Its slow and steady not going to be a monster but should be a pretty good one I have another fruit on this vine so will have two to take to the comp in May This one taps about 80 to 90kg. Should start banging on the weight the next fortnight or so.
