Giant pumpkin contest!!

Recommended Posts

I'm on the boat idea. I just need it to get bigger so I can fit in the bugger lol.

I was thinking a local charity. maybe for MS or cystic fibrosis. I have a couple people to talk to. I thought maybe do laps in a pool and every metre people donate a certain amount or something my boss wants me to take it out in the bay but I think I will drown lol..

^I've watched this he's great. I too want to grow a 1400 pound pumpkin one day. Mines 500 pounds and looks so small because I know how big they can get. I have serious pumpkin envy lol.

Nice WB.

Your plant makes my one look like a dinky lil fairy's version of a giant pumpkin plant hehe.

But I have my first female flower! I counted up 11 males and the 12th bud at the end of the vine is a lady-flower.

So that's exciting. I think I may have to excavate a little, cause its setting right on the side of the hill as the vine leaves the bed and enters no-mans land. If I don't do something I'm gonna have one freaky-lookin gravity-warped pumpkin. I wondered about trying to grow it into a love heart shape though. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it goes.

Some pix: (the pumpkin's totem animal popped in to say hi)

BTW that is still 2 plants ceres. I can't work out which one to cull yet, still may not be able to and may run the two out.

The first female turned up on the vine to the left, I plucked/buried some of the earlier males.

the pumpkin's totem animal popped in

Popped in or 'pooped' in?! Bit of free range fertiliser, is that against the rules of the competition.
