Freemason invite :/

Recommended Posts

Feel a bit funny posting this but....

A few people here know my old man is a grand poombah in the central west freemasons. He's 71.(not that that matters to much)

Anyways we have had a pretty fractured relationship for ALOT of my life, however as we all do I guess, has chilled out to fairly decent old man.

I've been living at home the last few weeks during my property settlement period on a purchase, and last night when I got home from work after a few pipes at a friends, and MEGA stoned (can only have a taste of my fav entheogen when I know I have a day off, due to regular workplace swab tests, and to much on the line to fail one) we got into a rather in depth conversation at the kitchen table, just my old boy and me.

First thing I wanna say is how strong the current hydro strains are when u only have a weekly toke. I only had 3 cones but effect was like a hard core acid trip!!! Anyways as we are talking he starts dropping the Freemason and "the lodge" into ALOT of sentences, first time I've ever heard him literally talk about his association. Anyways cutting a long story short he asked me outright if I'm interested in knowing what it's all about and if I would like to come to a meeting! Fuken wow! Me and my old mans relationship had come full circle, and I'm half inclined to go, just to strengthen our relationship if nothing else. He is my old man after all, and doesn't have much time left on this earth. I think this was a huge thing for him to say to me, and I feel kind of honoured, even dumbfounded. I really am not interested in dogma and truly believe that life is up to the individuals interpretation? I don't want to embarrass the old fella, but as well the thought of actually knowing and spending a little time with my dad before we part ways forever is an opportunity I shouldn't just flip off as "Freemason bs I don't wanna know about it" I told him its a decision I won't make lightly" as he wasn't keen to go into depth about the core beliefs of the masons and what actually goes on behind closed doors. I guess ill have a good non-stoned week to think about it.

The quality of last nights stone was amazing. I sorted out ALOT of shit in my head and made some really rational decisions about my life and which way to go and how to deal with some things in my life. 3 cones gave me a solid 5 hour TRIP, which ended in the most healing sleep I've had in a very long time. I'm really now looking at mj as an amazing, powdrful ethneogen, who's powers and benefits are realised when it is not being abused on a daily basis. Most insightful "trip" of my life, which came with a Freemason invite!! Lol my life is beyond surreal ;)

All in All I can't complain about life right now, I've got a decent job, which doesn't come without its stresses (like all jobs) bills are getting paid, I've invested in a property, I've got a fantastic new girl in my life I'm pretty stoked about, a new puppy :) and I'm getting ALOT closer to my family, I get to see my daughter often, who is the most beautiful, kindest, most amazing, loving and forgiving person I know- we both a knowledge each other as our best friends, a tie that binds us which words couldn't define.

Good things are happening, for which I am truly greatful to the universe, or McDonald's, or whatever.

:P

I might be wrong but I think it's essential with the freemasons that you 'believe in a higher power'

incog it seems events aligned for you that night...

I wouldn't be thinking about it at all, take the offer

What's most bizarre from

My own perspective about my father and I is :- I'm his only son, and we are born on the same day of the same month, within 25 minutes of each other. This is a true story confirmed by my nan (r.i.p) and my mum. And I've always thought you could not get two completely different men on the face of the earth, now I'm seeing so many similaritys.

I mean what would the odds of a father and son being born on the same day of the same month within 25 mins, 35 years apart (by the way I'm now 35 lol) difference is dad was a natural birth where I was a Caesarian birth- which is possibly a little more spooky- I had to be cut out so that I arrived on time lol now I'm becoming a whacked out self obsessed conspiracy theorists nahhh it's fun to play with your thoughts ;) that's all they are though, thoughts, and thoughts are DEFINATELY not what I am.

I THINK it's like what u said, a social club like rotary that raises money for charity's, sprinkled with some spiritual musings. But then again I've no idea at all.

The Sydney Masonic lodge is open to the public even some of the archives during the week. Level 3 is like a museum with loads of regalia and paintings of past lodge masters, all looking very kindly and oddly all looking like they were painted by the same dude. The architecture on the lower levels is very funky, all curves and few straight lines. Pretty cool.

From what I can tell they aren't a bad bunch of fellas- community minded and seem to actually give a fuk about humanity's plight

If you want hidden knowledge try the Rosicrucians now their website doesn't pop up unless you are hunting very specifically for it

I don't want hidden knowledge ;) I'm pretty staunch in my belief that no one knows what's going on around us nor has there ever been nor ever will there be, we are not meant to know- out brains are not capable of it, there have been pointers but for me life's all about the individuals interpretation of that life, I get a little funny when told what to believe, and people that do profess to know what's going on scare the shite outta me, and are usually the most lost of all. I'd be happy just hangin out with my dad in a suit eating triangular sangers!! I'm Definately leaning toward goin with him at the end of the month.

For me it's the old adage but it does bear true for me, that your never closer to the source of all things when your in the garden, that had been and always will be my lodge :)

You only get one invite, once you take the oath you can't leave without some social repercussions. I suspect it's mostly just a big boys club but the contacts you may make could be very useful if you are in to that kind of social and business networking. It doesn't interest me much but if you're in to social climbing it could be something worth doing

I quite recently found out that there is a fair history of freemasonry on my mums side of the family. Had my nans brothers come and stay with us about 4 - 5 months ago, two of which were freemasons and apparently 2 of her other brothers and my great grandfather were/are also freemasons. It seems like an interesting sort of organisation and I was quite intrigued when he was talking about higher degrees of masonry, although it was quite vauge. He said they can't talk about a lot of stuff with non-masons. I'm sure he was making it sound a lot more mysterious than it needs to be though since he was trying to get me interested in it. If he didn't live up in QLD I'd probably go along to a meeting with him. I'd recommend checking it out, even just to have some time with your dad and perhaps see another part of his life that you've otherwise been compltely unaware of.

My Grandfather was a mason. If I believed in a "higher" power or god or whatever I'd consider joining. I don't though, so I don't. Even if they don't focus so much on it now this is one of the wests spiritual heritage traditions. And theres a lot that could be gained in the initiation rituals if you have an eye(and ear) for it. Even if as you say your not into that I reckon I'd find it cool to try and understand, out of interest, where they're coming from. If you want to, go for it. Theres a lot worse you could be doing with your time. Plus you get to wear cool/funny/weird outfits.

Whitewind- do u think they would be able to source cheap bulbs and halve my mortgage?

It doesn't really sound like you know to much at all about the Freemasons, don't worry, neither do

I? Social climbing? I just wanted to hang out with my old man!!

It is funny Andy, a few years ago I was looking at buying a property out this way, anyways I go into the real estate and get a lift in with the agent, an old guy. He'd just finished being on the phone with me saying how great the property was, how well priced it was and all the potential it had. After our face to face introduction, he became interested in my last name, and asked if I was related to

Dad. I said I was his son, and he revealed he was a mason who had hung out with dad the last 30 odd years. Things changed very rapidly. On the way out he said that it was up to me, but he didn't think much of the property, and it was in a zone particularly prone to bush fires, was a tad overpriced etc etc and that I could do better, and really when we got out there really just walked around and I had this weird feeling he was kind of in awe and was checking me right out. On the way back he gave me his card and said to ring at any time if I had any questions about real estate and to make sure I told my dad he said hi lol

He was the chap who eventually gave the fan the lead on the property I currently purchased...

So yeah I guess you guys do have a point! I ain't complaining!!! I got my

Mad pad for a steal, and it DOES have mad potential to increase in value.

Funny- I don't feel bad about it one iota ;)

My footy club had a porn night once (I didn't go) the Freemasons doesn't seem like such an unreasonable idea after that.

My high school held exams in the local Masonic hall... I took a piss break during an exam and the supervisor didn't follow me so I went for a small scavenge thru the open rooms.... Ended up taking a butt load of mason gloves, stuffed in my gouch, and finished my exam... They ended up being our mushie picking gloves for our teenage lives :) they were truly holy gloves I tell ya!

On a more serious note tho; the fact now you've acquired a house, and got it via a Freemason, is probably the reason you're being invited in. They can't take any ol chap, only upstanding citizens with a job and mortgage... Traditionally those things only tie you to a community even more, hence the invitation (ie you've already passed a test you didn't even know you were sitting!)

Or maybe the beers im drinking are just being all alcoholic again ;)
