DiscoStu Posted November 28, 2014 what's wrong with this? it got hit by orange rot about 2 years ago, i cut the rot out and left it out of soil for a long while (i forgot about it), then planted it and now it looks stupid. that orange part on top isn't a foreign body, it's part of the flesh,

Evil Genius Posted November 28, 2014 Hi Disco Stu, Plants sometimes need years until all the Traces of Orange Rot disappear completely. Maybe give it a chemical Treatment with a strong Fungicide. That should get rid of it, though i think it will take a couple of years until it looks totally normal again.
mutant Posted November 28, 2014 DiscoStu, seem it could benefit and widen up in a more sunny spot pachanoi crest (kada) that terminated its tip. it has two new branches in the base two brands of myrtillocactus crest/monstrosa large pachanoi crests (the columnar is another bigger sample of the "kada" strain) Pachycereus marginatus crest and mandrake seedlings One seemingly regular Myrtillocactus but which was taken off a crest and rooted. Look forward to what happens more rooted myrti crests next to pachanoi crests damaged by spidermite earlier in the season
hostilis Posted November 28, 2014 (edited) Some ario astro variegates and koh-yos. Some of them haven't shown any koh-yo traits yet though, but the seeds were definitely funky with variegates. Edited November 28, 2014 by hostilis

Have you repotted it in recent years? I found with mine they did the same (or VERY slooow growth) until I repotted them! Lots of nutrient rich soil and they'll take off!
Dreamwalker. Posted December 8, 2014 Have you repotted it in recent years? I found with mine they did the same (or VERY slooow growth) until I repotted them! Lots of nutrient rich soil and they'll take off! I was generously given it by a member up North last season...as a cutting...tried grafting but it fell off...didn't want to risk losing any more, so I potted it...its pupping now...so all is good...tempted to cut & graft the pup...
Auxin Posted December 9, 2014 I had a TPQC X TPM sprout a big honkin' crest pup at the base so I decided to cut off the columnar bit and graft it. Went on normal for a while and then had an identity crisis. Now I have a ten and three halves ribbed columnar sporting a cactus mohawk.
mutant Posted December 9, 2014 Penis growing slowly.... could it be the crest? Tangich "penis" seems to do a crestation like welted wax crest strain does. The melted wax seems to be doing penis from time to time, I haven't yet rooted those penises to see what hapens
Philocacti Posted December 9, 2014 Tangich - from what I understand tbm A (long former) grow few spines along their column, unlike tbm B

Berengar Posted December 11, 2014 Tangich - from what I understand tbm A (long former) grow few spines along their column, unlike tbm B This is a regular short clumping tbm, but it was grafted onto a large Pereskiopsis. The segments started growing normally, then just continued to grow, the tips never terminated. I remember watering the graft with a strong fertilizer solution, then both growing segments started producing new areoles from the tip a week or so later. mutant Posted December 11, 2014 never seen such a crest-like curling occur in the regular short form type B , like in yo pic, tang, . But I have only grafted them once, in hylo, this must be some 3-4 y . o . graft, still alive . grafting melted wax in a largish specimen of TIG AKA fig fucker bridgesii, resulted in the biggest dick I have ever seen, and its still going - so hopefully we will measure it sometime soon.
