Philocacti Posted December 12, 2014 the columnar melted wax is awesome , much more monstrosa than other so called semi-monstrosa bridgesiis! It's like TBM, it looks better as it grows bigger. I used to cut it a lot but now I learned that a cluster will grow more robust than a single column.
mutant Posted December 12, 2014 (edited) ^^^ my curse, I have been doing it to many nice and 'marketable' extra ornamental strains . but as a result I have been able to sell many specimens, and make a buck, even myrti breast, which I started with a single 5 cm rooted cutting... but yeah, at first, cutting and rooting and all, I hadnt understood how fat the brast cactus can become I am often inclined to cut and propagate anyd cool specimen/strain, because if its exciting to own and watch one, then how cool can it be to have 3?? (especially with crests/monstrosas) But you're right, sometimes we have to leave some specimens to become big and remain uncut, and then we can brag about them in here Edited December 12, 2014 by mutant
Berengar Posted December 12, 2014 never seen such a crest-like curling occur in the regular short form type B , like in yo pic, tang, . It's even more curled now, I degrafted it and trying to root it currently, I really hope it terminates and stays looking like it does now. It reminds me of some kind of deep-sea monster, maybe a bit of Admiral Ackbar. I'll take a photo in a couple of days when I get my camera back.
mutant Posted December 13, 2014 stupid me I erased most of the pics I took. anyways the grafted wax, its not the length but the width, I think the photo doesn't do it justice

hostilis Posted December 17, 2014 The psicho0 x rosei#1 mons IMG_0002 - Копие.JPG ..caught my interest having three cotyledons/little horns/,instead of two as a very young seedling.. Did you graft slightly smaller seedlings to slightly larger seedlings there?
mysubtleascention Posted December 17, 2014 (edited) Did you graft slightly smaller seedlings to slightly larger seedlings there? Grafted on a larger tricho seedling /6-7 months old/, when it was 4 weeks old/glass cup humidity dome/..if you're asking about the monstriple.. The other grafts are tricho on tricho as well, slightly older/ 3-5 months /.. Used the cardboard bridge method.. Basically corrugared cardboard piece 3cm wide, protruded from a nearby glass cup, and coin weights to press the graft for a day.. Auxin Posted December 17, 2014 I'm starting to put this in the freak class. I started up a bunch of Echinocereus fendleri and split into two groups. One group I overwatered and overfertilized until there was only one survivor, which I grafted. The poor bastard is all flabby and pale and splotchy
