naja naja Posted January 18, 2014 The powder is dusting sulfur to keep thrips and mites away And I've found that big cacti seem to be able to still grow in smaller lots than you'd think.
hostilis Posted January 18, 2014 I didn't realize it kept thrips and mites away. That's great to know.
Dreamwalker. Posted January 18, 2014 The powder is dusting sulfur to keep thrips and mites away And I've found that big cacti seem to be able to still grow in smaller lots than you'd think. is the sulphur effective.....................would it keep scale and mealy bug away too? hostilis Posted January 18, 2014 Diatomaceous earth dusted on a plant will kill any little creature with an exoskeleton on contact. Not sure how sulfur works though.
mutant Posted January 21, 2014 awesome new monsters naja and awesome old monster philo aweseom score, but you probably know it already. was it expensive?
Philocacti Posted January 21, 2014 Thanks mutant It was equivalent to 15 euros, I could've bargained but I thought it was worth it ;)

mutant Posted January 23, 2014 Looks like a pachanoi crest/monstrosa Yeah when pachanboi crest/mosnter ceases to make areoles its one of the best phases of these plants. If this scaling is short-tiled, this is what I have called "reptile skin" beautiful specimen, keep us udpated: did it go normal? did it go crest? did it continue monster column growth? naja naja Posted January 23, 2014 sulfer is a miticide and fungicide Seems to do the job on thrips also.
myco Posted January 24, 2014 Yeah when pachanboi crest/mosnter ceases to make areoles its one of the best phases of these plants. gotta agree on that mutant mine is doing this at the moment and i love it its growing like crazy and looks really cool at this stage and most of the areoles it is producing dont even have spines
Myeloblast Posted January 24, 2014 Mytrillocactus geometrizans crest, labeled as 'Elite' clone for its miniature size Anyone know if this will grow out to a normal myrtillo crest if given ample light and ferts? I'd prefer it to stay miniature...
mutant Posted January 24, 2014 awesome specimen. you did not tell us how long you got it and in what lighting it has been exposed. I have few experiences with these plants as they are quite new comers for me, even though I have grown the breast cactus for some time. I suspect there might be two clones, one a normal crest and one more "melty". I dont know if there are two crest/monsters, apart from what I call "melty" . Time will tell I suppose, but myrtillocacti love light, so.... If I were you I would cut it like a son of bitch and create many new plants and keep half in dimmed light to creat the miniature effect and the rest to full light... but hey dont do this: I am hacking maniac and this is an awesome specimen. irabionist Posted January 25, 2014 Haha dw it will be in Australia... only through legal ways though.. I wouldn't want to jeopardise such a rare plant or my garden, but I've got a few propagation schemes going on to spread some sexy freaks around Aus! Just give me a year or so and we'll be rolling in freaks here
GoOnThen Posted January 25, 2014 Cool would love to hear how it is possible to get this in legally. I didn't want to sound like a twat but I would have hated to see someone else lose their collection. Cheers Got
