See in the last phot the right graft looks etiolated? This is in full sun under shade cloth so not sure why its growing like this, interesting as lower downb they appear to have more chloroplast so crown seems to grow slower then base which may explain odd shapes. I dunno?

damn man, awesome work, but I must have said that like 10 times.

it cant be easy working with so yellow plants.. but you seem to be doing too good...

fine idea grtafting on trichocerei/permanent stock...

I really hope you manage to grow some to maturehood, the they take more bridgesii (psychO) shape. Also hope for more greeny parts, as they will no doubt help with survival rate....

Dawnbeaver I had a rootstock pup twice, the first one I took off. And the second pup I left and grafted a icaros dna seedling onto it. I thought it was gonna slow down but remember that the pup makes its own energy and only shares the water supply. Both my icaros and my original graft are growing well. I was hoping that it did slow down since my lophophora was growing way too fast.

Here are some updates for y'all on some of my grafts. I also just started about 20 new ones. When they take i'll show some pictures.

Here's my TBMC. It's getting pretty wild looking now. Almost like a splash of water that's moving in extreme slow motion.

post-12824-0-17703700-1387404491_thumb.j post-12824-0-18322000-1387404494_thumb.j

Here's my williamsii on a pachanoi. It was just a tiny little guy 6 months ago. The first one is him six months ago and the last one is today, You can't see it but there is also a 3cm pup on the backside of it now. It just gained 3 extra ribs and It also flowered last month. It's growing very well.

Here are some williamsii seedling grafts. They're about 5 months old and already around 4.5-6 cm.

Yeah. I spray most my seedling grafts with 100 ppm GA3 solution once per month and treat the soil with trichoderma and it increases the growth rate by a crazy amount. I get about 1-1.25cm per month with williamsii. It also makes the ribs bulge out like that when they grow so fast I think. It almost looks like the ribs aren't uniform and it's just random, but actually what is happening is they are spiraling down the sides rather than staying in a straight line. I'm guessing it has something to do with the incredible growth rates i'm getting.

Thanks for checking them out though!

Here's a picture of a TBMC clone I made and grafted to pereskiopsis. It just now started taking off. Its right next to a penis plant graft in the same pot (i thought it made sense).

post-12824-0-40573500-1388125434_thumb.j post-12824-0-76639000-1388125460_thumb.j

This is a verticle seedling graft I did with 11 random cultivar (and also some seed from my own plants) williamsii. Most of them are starting to push out new areoles and none of them have shrivelled.

post-12824-0-04916000-1388125384_thumb.j post-12824-0-37813500-1388125410_thumb.j

Then this is a bridgesii seedling that went 4 ribbed, It's gotten pretty big now. EDIT: still hasn't reverted back to 6 ribs. I'm hoping that it's just in the genetics of this one. The stump of the seedling that I took it off pupped and had a 6 ribbed pup. This actually happened after it became etiolated (it was one of the first cacti I got and i didn't treat it very well at first) I have a feeling that the etiolation caused it to drop down to 4 ribs for some reason.

Stillman.......................those are awesome!

That looks good to me.

I did this once with bridgesii seedlings. I put 5 on 1 pad and 1 of them took. It is growing SOOOOO slow though for some reason. Slower than the actual seedlings. I think it's because I was trying to make it go dormant for a while but then decided to graft on it. So now it's still dormant but still took the scion in.

Here's some pictures.

Day 1:

post-12824-0-64412800-1388719201_thumb.j

This is about 2 weeks after it took I believe. It isn't much bigger now and it's been months. Lol. I think it's dormant.

dreamwalker, they're not looking very good AKA they're out of focus AKA really bad pic - a couple seem to be ok but its a guess....

also you're supposed to use the right opuntia, f.e. compressa if you use the wrong one, you will have growing problems probably. I had used an opuntia in the past and it did work well..

cheers

Thanks..........I had a hard time id-ing them......and I experimented with some other vigorous opuntia..............so far trich root stock has been the most successful ..............I'll post a decent pic and of the mature opuntia also...................

Noob question

how are you grafting seedlings to opuntia? Do you use super glue?

I've got a bunch of seedlings i want to graft but have no peres, so i will use opuntia.

Also are there any other good stock for seedlings?
