Heres a couple of pics of my Lobivia Hybrid seedlings.

I crossed L arachnantha (lemon white) with Lobivia firetruck (purple flower) Seedlings seem to have alot of variegated traits. And this one is dichotomous and I think somewhat variegated.

DSCF2004-14_zpsefda6187.jpg

and the seedling on the right is showing an unusual growth in its crown and starting to pup already.

Looking good mate, can't wait to see them at flowering size!

A few people ask me "How do you know if your graft has been successful". I can tell normally after about 14 days, after this time if my grafts are still plump & holding colour its a success, if they are losing colour, shriveling or throwing roots, I know I have been unsuccessful.

Here are a couple of photos of unsuccessful grafts. These were done the same time as the seedlings in the first post (29/1/13)

you can see the root coming from the base of the scion!

post-11291-0-29912600-1361594396_thumb.j

you can see this scion is starting to shrivel & just starting to put out a root

I am pretty happy with all the grafting I did on the 29/1/13, these were the only two that did not take. I hope this information can help others with there grafting journey.

holy crud! great stuff, I don't have many but this graft was from a bunch of mixed trich seeds I grew and is about 2 1/2 years old now

post-7855-0-02535100-1361685843_thumb.jp

I need to start some new grafts this year I've been out of the loop far too long plus I have peres coming out the wazoo, thanks for the inspiration guys

EDIT: note the graft is globular and I susspect it to be an echinopsis spp. time will only tell

This thread is dominated by pere grafts!

Can tricho grafts play too?

Will take some pics tomorrow, i have 5 pere grafts that have definately worked, but most of mine are on trichs.

I have really enjoyed using my SS01 X SS02 & SS02 X Bridgesii seedlings as grafting stock for wee buggers, they have been working perfectly.

I think any Cactus grafts would be great here .

Also the more info you can put about your graft the better, I am know expert by any shot, so the more we can read the more we can all learn . I love Spine Collectors grafts & would love to know what they are ( I think I spotted a few Ario's).

@bogfrog, Can you pleeeeessssseee add a pick of your Ario graft/grafts. My seed germinated months ago but has not done much since then, Arios are this weeks grafting project for me.

Cheers

Sure thing Jox, i had only one survive the first month (fungus gnats were bothering them) so i grafted it, it took ages to move, shrunk a little, so i kept it in hudity for 3 weeks & with daily encouragment from me, it finally became my 1st succesful pere graft. It was a ariocapus fissuratus x ariocapus lloydii

Its putting on a good girth and i can just see the tip of a new arm springing up.

Pics 2mrw!

Oh yeah Bogfrog!!! How could I forget!!!

Here is my first graft that actually took! My first 3 or 4 attempts were of seedlings that got base rot and I grafted in an attempt to try and save them.... this was one of them.. 2 others I was able to root in a sandier soil and I will likely be grafting them too when the other pach's get rolling

This seedling tip was maybe 8 or 9 months in age... I have all my seedlings on almost exactly the same

watering schedule and the same soil mix but the Icaros seedlings were very sensitive to watering at first...

These were already very fast growers, labeled Icaros.. Not bad for 4+ months growth!

really good idea for a thread!

this is the base of a bridgey seedling a few weeks after i grafted it 2 seasons ago.

the tip of the seedling didn't take so it's a good example of why its good to graft the top and bottom of a seedling if you can. stock is a pachanoi seedling. awesome little stock hasn't pupped once, don't know if its because the bridgey just wanted to grow or if its a really good grafting stock. will degraft before next season. the original seedling base still has a little dormant root bud so should be easy to root.

oh yea the scion is 40cm now

My first 2 successful grafts.

This first one is a TBM to T. pachanoi (grafted October 2012) which pupped pretty quickly and is now just chilling :)

post-9261-0-64033100-1361949936_thumb.jp

This one is my first and only successful loph graft (so far) that was grafted on to T. pachanoi on 14/12/2012, it has since been ravaged by mites and is showing some interesting growth from the damage

That is really cool 2meke!

Question??? as far as I can tell the butt end had no spines... did it or not??
I also grafted the butt end of a Peruvianus Ayucho to a Pach and the other half to Peres... cause it was my only seedlling in that batch ...

looks like its doing well but I've been wondering how it'll grow... but your pic says alot!

Mushroomman - yah I've got some interesting little buggers from this year's crosses as well - here's some pics of a few of those as well as some Roseii#1:

TPC X SS02/SS02xpachanoi/Juules:

IMG_1768_zpsc8d0ef69.jpg

TPM x (SS02 x pachanoi)

IMG_1770_zps30e17631.jpg

TPQC x TPM (curious to see if this cross puts out more freaks than the Psycho0 x TPM and (SS02 x pachanoi) x TPM crosses - if so we can deduce that the TPQC is cresting at least partly related to genetics, I would think..

I am inclined to think so too.. i have only grafted one of your recent crosses to pere, it was this cross (TPQC X TPM) and it began cresting right away.
