☽Ţ ҉ĥϋηϠ₡яღ☯ॐ€ðяئॐ♡Pϟiℓℴϟℴ
Took shade cloth down - 4 months after putting it up ... Did a bit more work on the slug/snail problem over the last 24 hours... plenty of dead sea salts scattered tween tricho pots along the patio beneath them it created one of the finest visual delicacies to wake to today .... crispy slugs and no more munched tips the snails i found got sent across the road :3 ... the weeds hate salt too :D moved smaller cacti to "the shark fin" Peggy s'rue (peganum harmala) seems to be fine outside..., I put brugmansia arborea white and sanguinea into full sun ..., boiled up some more acacias and mimosas for the ixtlawattle yesterday .. , 5 Glaukus obtusi got 100% germ already overnight! .... a few burkittii sprouting already too from 10 - 9 now due to one rotter 10 more neurophylla 5 baileyana 2 spooge plebs 2 m' ophthalmocentra which sprouted so fast I sowed them yesterday evening 10 more m' scabrella since the only survivor died ... after i sprayed sb invigorator and forgot to dilute it : / - same story with the RFB unfortunately : / at least the RFB seems not to have completely died, just a lot of leaf loss.. the aeropod is slain to fk on the leaf count too : / ... and trichocereus glaucus didn't like pure sb either... at least it turned green again though .. so at least peganum, picralima nitida germinates, mangroves, mimosas ophthalmo and tenuiflora, acacias mearnsii, courtii, confusa, maidenii, burkittii, floribunda and obtusifolia took the pure sb ok - some as if nothing had happened oh yeah , planted 2 types of honeysuckle, a wisteria and another clematis variety Edited June 25, 2017 by ☽Ţ ҉ĥϋηϠ₡яღ☯ॐ€ðяئॐ♡Pϟiℓℴϟℴ
DualWieldRake
I woke up And i found some Couroupita guianensis seeds on my doorstep So i planted them And who knows maybe they grow up and show some of this Flowers smell nice too they say. Fruit much less when it falls down and opens, but takes years to ripe from what i've heard Edited June 17, 2017 by DualWieldRake

MeanGreen
Staked up my sensitive plant, it was taking way too much horizontal space. Bonus points if you recognize the ustensils I used as stakes... Also been inspired by @DualWieldRake's pics so I took a bunch of Sceletium cuttings and attempted to graft Loph. fricii and T. werdermannianus seedlings to pereskiopsis
MeanGreen
What do you do with all the kanna cuttings, DWR? I was thinking of planting a few of mine in the same pots as some of my trichos, would make some nice cover crop and companion plants. Ever tried that? Haha i put em in pots untill i ran out of pots (already happened) so yeah good question Thought about putting some around a tricho too (Just a stump left but that aside) i would guess they do somewhat fine together...don't see the sceletium using much of tricho's water
MeanGreen
Yeah I'm definitely gonna giva that a shot, kanna doesn't seem to have an aggressive root system, I think they'd do well. And hahaha nope, the stakes are innoculation loops for agar work, but good guess still x)
DualWieldRake
What kinda agar work are you performing? Today was repotting day for me. The containers i sowed in mostyl had no drainage and also the number of them made a bit of a logistical issue So here is the tropical cactus container (Echinopsis sp.), with holes drilled in and ducttaped around the perimeter to keep out light from the rootzone And the desert container (All kinds of stuff) Drosanthemum, Fenestraria and Hylo Some seedlings, Canarina canariensis (came free with the order, but supposedly they will be litteraly dripping nectar so bring it on) and yet to be identified passionflower showing first true leaves Watered this bone dry Catha edulis Edited July 1, 2017 by DualWieldRake
MeanGreen
Very nice, glad to see your khat also does that droopy leaf thing my seedlings always do that and that got me worried but your plant is much bigger than any of mine so I guess it's normal? I use the agar for mycology, just for general clean-up and single sector isolation. Would love to get into tissue culture though, but it seems to be a much more closed world where recipes and "teks" are kept as trade secrets. DualWieldRake
Ha, i noticed the droopy leaves on this one and realized i never watered it...pot was light as a feather. I had read scary things about overwatering khat. It perked up now.. And this is my biggest of 3..other 2 are outdoor, doing fine just not as big and much redder Mycology as in magic mushrooms? I would love to isolate the stuff in some of the exceptionally large seedlings i come across sometime..

I was able to take 12 cuttings and that allowed me to harvest a little handful of leaves that I'm going to try and prepare. Anyone can outline the "oven tek" for me please? Sun fermentation seems a bit gross and I heard it doesn't really make a difference compared to oven drying. Just took 24 new cuttings and the lower 2 leaves of each combined yielded 25 grams of fresh material I discarded it looking for bigger yield in near future but thought it maybe usefull information..
MeanGreen
Nice, that's good info indeed. I wouldn't have discarded those leaves if I were you though, I ended up just crushing and drying mine in a dehydrator (probably about 12g fresh going by your results). I powdered it and snorted some and it was definitely active, it dried down to less than half a gram though I would say probably 300mg. I currently have a few leaves from the 9 cuttings I took a few days ago in a glass jar in the sun to try fermentation, although we didn't have much sun this week here. And yeah that type of mycology. You don't really need agar to isolate the genetics of a single fruit, you can clone some tissue from the lower stem of it into a clean liquid culture and you'll most likely have a single strain with the traits (size, potency etc...) as the fruit you took the biopsy from. I isolate from spores mostly for fun and learning and to see if I find a strain with interesting characteristics that wouldn't usually pop up in a multispore grow.
DualWieldRake
Together with neighbours removed 10+ meters of virginia creeper, clematis got caught in the onslaught Got thirsty and drank some fresh Mentha spicata tea Compound layered ololiuqui and soil potted pachanoi pups, wasn't liking the perlite for them...noticed some things appearing to come out of under the skin soon, light streaks with defined tips. Thought they be better rooting in some proper soil Bani vs mosaic virus (if it's not my treatment of it..), seems like bani is doing a good job...it was worse, way worse. 2 Jinba ittai (when the scion and stock become one). First one appears to be a baby bridge, second one you already guessed it This is a definite Jinba ittai, i'm glad it took cause this seedling was big. 5mm+ @2 months big..time will tell if it was something in the roots of it or just love to grow. It's on a fat tall pere. Pachanoi (and a lopho) yearlings Edited July 4, 2017 by DualWieldRake
DualWieldRake
Was busy helping nature by having fun pollinating my datura, then i realized someone (wind or bees or moths) beat me to it Next day i did a closer inspection and found a whole bunch of fruit And what i also found is this inconspicuous Boerhaavia diffusa flower (my first) I only got this plant to fill an order when i was already running low on options, however one thing i do look forward to The day i find a bird like this, so i can point and laugh at the fruit stuck on it's face
DualWieldRake
Pollinated Ipmomoea alba Recovered some cherry seeds Watched a pup beeing born, 5 weeks after the chop Ran up on some dragonflies And watched this ladybug munching on aphids doing a conga line Apparently they use visual cues to perform a wiggle in succession, that was really funny to watch.
