etherealdrifter
hi,i've got a couple of olive trees -approx 8yrs old. One's a U.C 13 A.6 and the other a Sevillano.I harvested my 'Sevillano -Queen of Spain' olives the other day.The wild life took their share and left me with half a jar - suppose it's better than none When i prune both of them(fingers crossed) i'll have a go at making some oil from the leaves too. - sevillanochin chin amigos.
shortly
Today i discovered that a few of the elephant foot yam (Amorphophallus paeoniifolius) leaflet cuttings it put down before Xmas have finally produced new little plants And found a surviving patch of Zornia after i thought i'd lost it to the marauding gastropods.
whitewind
I just spent an exhausting few hours potting up every small plant into 140mm pots (finally!) just in time for Autumn growth, the weather still being good. I have almost no seedlings or cuttings left, they are all big enough to require much less care - now time for Autumn sowing! The little pumpkin had fun with my labels yesterday, switched a few over and added a few "dead" labels to living plants (A Vanilla suddenly became a mate!) and wrote a few squiggles herself, lucky I caught her at the cacti as some of those I could get confused with - she seems to ignore the spines, somehow. It's a worry. And I was excited to discover that all my gingers were labelled quite well, only a couple of "unknowns" in there, and these are doubles of things I already have, so dead chuffed there. theuserformallyknownasd00d
Mate I don't know where you get your energy looking after her! That day at Manly lake still makes he giggle when she head first into the mud having a ball ;) awesome to see she likes to help dad with the chores tho!!!Can somebody please give me advise RE my black caapi. It originally began growth with nodes quite close but has since started growing a set of leaves each 10-15cm. Am I able to top her at this point? It's approx 1.5 foot high and I'd like a few more growing tips when she gets her amazing new trellis and 50L potD00d

It's approx 1.5 foot high and I'd like a few more growing tips when she gets her amazing new trellis and 50L potJust tip her back where you need to, back to a node. She'll double branch (probably) right there and maybe tip back again after the next node until you're done. Wait until she's hardened off a bit before tipping to avoid die-back; a change in light levels will make the nodes reduce in length.Luckily I now get the occasional day off to do some research and potting on! There's no turning your back on wild children unless they are safely pre-occupied in a closed in area.
theuserformallyknownasd00d
Yeh she shot off after it had adjusted to the new light levels. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I'd prefer it stout and bushy whilst I'm renting as opposed to running along the balcony and not being able to move her. I was hoping to hear it would shoot more than just the top two nodes. I'm sure if I wrap her down low and have a top fest of each shoot once a node appears ill be fine tho. Stillman
Have 7 or so PHF2 seeds up, looks like more will emerge in the next couple days, took about 7 days for germination. I think I will designate a little time and energy into these, I'm interested to see how they will develop. Should make for an attractive plant. theuserformallyknownasd00d
Nip every flower head you see on the coleus veratis or you'll be battling with a shitty looking plant! You can re veg them but it takes a while and you'll generally speaking loose her. Plenty of water and ferts and your laughing <___base_url___>/uploads/emoticons/default_smile.pngEdit: today I gifted 20+ plants onto family members and friends. They were so enthusiastic and excited about my garden it was hard not to pass some babes on. In the batch was loph graphs, datura plants, lions tail plants, trich crosses, brug seedlings and some bundleweed seedlings. The energy coming from the remaining seedlings and plants is very strong and appreciative.D00d Edited April 7, 2013 by thed00dabides

I'm at a loss to know what i'm going to do with all the clove basil?Pruned the lower branches off the cassava to let in some light & so the kids can play underneath, Dunno what i'm going to do with all the cuttings? Anyone local wanting some cassava cuts??Grafted the few surviving Piloso seedlings that the dreaded gastropods hadn't quite finished off & potted up some more Pere's cuts.Collected a heap of yam bulbils from the yam patch. And dug some yacon & jerusalem artichokes.

I'm at a loss to know what i'm going to do with all the clove basilIf you like it's culinary qualities you can mortar it into a paste with olive oil and place into a jar. Cover with 1" olive oil and place in the freezer and you'll be able to make salads and pesto in a wiz. Don't add anything besides well washed and dries basil and oil or it may spoil. I grew clove basil last year and found its pesto very good with baked pumpkin and roasted capsicum pasta. It's really highlighted with a good douse of garlic and chilli <___base_url___>/uploads/emoticons/default_smile.png Edited April 7, 2013 by thed00dabides

mindperformer
for pesto, wood garlic (Allium ursinum) is perfect, here in Austrian spring it is in season now, with its delicate tender leaves. If you chew a small piece, you have this fresh garlic taste for hours Edited April 8, 2013 by mindperformer
