Hi all I had a mate draw me a picture of a Trichocereus flower as I want to get one as my first tattoo, and would just to know what everyone thinks about it

post-7916-0-42151600-1355618076_thumb.jp

Now! should it be colour or black and white, how big should i get it?

I am thinking of getting it on one of my thighs.... is there a better spot so that it will last longer?

Also Im thinking i should just get the flower and not the cactus as well but I do like them together.

What ya all think?

That's a great drawing! I usually thought detailed pictures would look better with colour, but I don't think so anymore.

I kinda played with it a bit and brought out the shadows and lines to see what it would look like.

I dunno, some tats look good as an outline with greyscale type shading and others look unfinished.

I've got an older one with white in it and the white was very intense when it was new, maybe a bit too intense. Over time the white has faded and doesn't stand out as much. I suppose it depends on your natural skin tone as to how intense whites and off whites or yellows will appear.

If I was getting that done I'd want it coloured, the colour is a breeze after the burning of the outliner, so it's not that much drama to get it done all in one sitting. A good artist should be able to fill and blend the colours to give it a really nice look and you don't have to have him/her fill it with a solid colour, they can lightly fill it to more of a pale hue which I reckon would look really good.

If you use that template with the greyscale shading as above and then get it lightly filled with whites/yellows and shades thereof, that would look great.

The white on the two that I have with white hasn't gone too bad, it certainly has faded but so has the rest of them. The once vivid reds are now a pale pink but on one in particular the white is still white. I suppose it depends on the ink and how heavy it's applied.

Mine have had heaps of sun and they are over 20 years old.

Jwerta said he was going to get it in an inconspicuous place, so it wouldn't be a great problem.

I'm sure it would look good either way, it's a very nice piece of artwork. If you don't take steps to protect the intellectual property rights, I'm sure most tattoo artists would steal that design. Maybe that picture should be signed or watermarked ?

I think don't put to much more thought into it and get it over your face. (I'm with u on just the flower, would look nice on a shoulder)

Kaleidoscope tattoo in bondi has done some amazing work on a friend, hers was a flower as well, great idea mate I may just steal it cos I'm an uninspired asshat like that ;)

I like the pic but for a tattoo it may be better if the flower is more circular and symmetrical. Otherwise your first impression may be "WTF is THAT???"

Also, put some gnarly spikes on it something. At least make it look like your favourite clone, otherwise people will say, "Oh it's just the common old PC patch, but check-out my killer 'psycho0' tattoo sucker!!! "

And you'll be like DAAAAMN!

Once again I really like the pic though, beautiful work indeed ;)

Dude dont get angry because you see cocks in a cactus. Refer to cactus porn thread. Your ailment is more common than you think.
