If the US says it's ok, then the rest of the world will follow...

17 states down 35 to go...1/3 of the way there.

In California there’s physicians that will apparently give almost any Californian resident, who can afford the fee of an appointment a recommendation to use medical cannabis.

Just gotta find yourself a cute Californian chick to marry and your laughing.

I guess you are just joking, but getting high is incidental to the medicinal value of Cannabis as an analgesic, anti-emetic, appetite stimulant and anxiolytic.

true, except maybe the part about anxiolysis. i consider the psychoactive effects of cannabis to be largely beneficial, in a similar way to benzodiazepines or opiates. there is definitely a market for non- or only slightly- psychoactive cannabis products, but there is also definitely a medicinal market for white widow or whatever :P

as for people saying "if i lived in america i could get a licence", i think pretty much anyone can and that's the point; it's de facto legalisation. hey, whatever works, but personally i think there needs to be separate markets for recreational psychoactive products and medicinal products. but like i said, any legitimised availability is a start.

As far as I know, both THC and CBD have anxiolytic properties.

Thanks for posting an interesting link!

We are slowly winning the war

It's good to see some progress, for sure.

Personally, what I would find really exciting to see is a move away from excessive tinkering and commercialisation of something which is already perfect in its natural form, and a move towards relaxing of laws regarding home cultivation for personal use.

There are certainly some interesting possibilities in the production of tinctures/extracts with isolated alkaloids for targeted treatment, so people can receive specific benefits without getting the full spectrum of effects. It's just the branding and marketing silliness that I find kind of dubious.

I used to be of that opinion, actually more like an obsessive conviction. But if the commercialisation of the plant is what needs to happen to get cannabinoid’s to people that need them for there medical benefits, then I think it’s a good thing.

I think my eyes where open after meeting too much fanatic hippies in nimbin, who had a blind obsessive love for the plant and where convinced there friend or family members cancer was going to be completely cured simply by using mullaways tinctures, lol. There may be some good evidence that there’s something in cannabis that could kill tumours or help with other serious conditions, but it would take more refinement than a simple tincture, imo.

Though, I do agree that the plant is pretty much perfect as it is for recreational use and minor medical issues. The laws do obviously need to be relaxed to reflect this fact.
