0 flumsquid Posted July 10, 2012 Sorry guys mike passed away last year. Turns out the house is for sale.(if not sold already) fuck i wanted to buy it! i managed to talk his son into selling the 'mike' mother plants. They are growing at mine now, along with heaps of other stuff from mike . bloody legend i rekon. Lots of larger cacti in the ground still (heaps actually) all the pots are taken away to the sons place.but he sure did leave a shit load of cacti left to be loved! 0 GoOnThen Posted July 10, 2012 RIP Mike You were a cacti legend My two daughters still remember going to Mikes with me and spending a few hours wandering around his collection and talking cacti. On here most people know of mike because of his Bridgesii but his passion for cacti was very broad as the photos in the other thread show This one of the mammillaria's I bought for my 3 year old daughter in 2009 And this is the same plant now which my daughter now wants to name Mike Cheers Got
0 flumsquid Posted July 10, 2012 Yer r.i.p. mike the collection is subject to the new owners feelings on cacti. Thats why i wanna buy the house! Hopefully they enjoy them half as much as all of us cactiheads!

0 bit Posted July 12, 2012 (edited) Yes i agree its very likely Pachcereus Pringeli. Awesome Tree! I'll second that opinion. Wish I could find one in NZ! Apparently they're the tallest cacti in the world! Edited July 12, 2012 by bit
0 shruman Posted July 12, 2012 (edited) I'm probly wrong but I'm not so sure on that being a Pachy, Looks very Tricho to me, those realy decent spines all the way up don't pachy get quite less spiney when mature?, the rib count looks a little low, general girth seems a bit slim, colour looks a little too vibrant, it does have a certain knobbliness but it does not seem as distinct as as what you see of pachy in habitat. To me it looks alot like what I have seen pics of validus from here in Aus... Like I said I'm probly wrong, I have only seen pics of Pachy at that size although I have seen Tricho's of around that size. Why do you ask if its specificaly Pachy flum?, do you have any other pics?, bigger?, closer? Gorgeous cactus at any rate.
