Evil Genius Posted May 22, 2012 Pretty sure its some kind of Echinocactus. Maybe even Grusonii but i rather think its one of the less known ones like Platyacanthus.

Evil Genius Posted May 22, 2012 (edited) Yes Ferocactus is right. Maybe Ferocactus Townsendianus. Really a stunning plant. Would love to investigate it in reality. Edited May 22, 2012 by Evil Genius
amanito Posted May 22, 2012 Hey, Evil Genius, I heard there's a fucking huge garden with very very old trichocereus somewhere in Barcelona, lot's of varieties, probably very unique seeds/pollen to be collected. It's private property, but it's abandoned and you need to climb over a fence. I got to know this through an Australian. I'll ask directions .

paradox Posted May 26, 2012 cool, if anyone has eaten this sp or other ferocactus spp fruit & can report on the quality i would be keen to hear nice porno btw!
shortly Posted May 26, 2012 Not that i've tried anywhere near as many as i would like but IME they vary a lot even within the same species, but as a general rule most of the Fero fruits i've tried have been juicy, sweet & a sorta floral flavor to sweet & insipid tasting of nothing in particular. Although i once tasted a F hamatacanthus that was as sour & acidic as any lemon, probably quite nice in a drink or in cooking but too sour to eat as a fresh fruit. Just my 2c worth.
