What exactly do you guys think makes this clone deserve it's own name? Is it the longer than normal spines? It basically looks just like many of my bridgesii do except it has a little bit longer spines but that can be affected more by the climate and sunlight than genes.

To me it looks more unique and recognizable than a bunch of other bridgesii's I own that have also been given names. It also entered my collection with this name, so I have kept the name on it and told others the name when I have passed it to them, (I've only passed clones of this plant to 2 people so far but Sir Jeans obviously has spread it much more than that).

I've found it to have a great personality and it's a plant I hope will flower for me so I can create some hybrids with it.

When it's actively growing it has beautiful vibrant colours to the fresh spines and can get a nice glaucous bloom on it's skin, too.

I was planning on spreading some cheap cuttings of this plant next Spring/summer too. So some more members should be able to get it in their collections soon if they so desire.

So basically, it's probably just like all the other plants out there which have a name, someone got hold of a plant that they really liked the look of and they gave it a name and sold a bunch of cuttings to others with that name attached.

Id like to trade some TBMs for a piece of this beautiful plant.

I've got plenty of rooted plants ready to trade, so hit me up if your keen.

They were rooted 2 years ago, and now have approximately 6 dicks per plant.

Hopefully this offer of many dicks tickles someone's fancy.

Hey Change

I will message you on the weekend as im still crazy busy at work. But im sure i have a spare jeans pup i can spare? I will include it when i sent some of the other bits. It might just have to wait until we get a few sunny days before i can cut the plant..I have been losing plants hand over fist to rot with this crazy rain.

It'll be a year or two till I can contribute any pups to the wider community. I have two recently purchased cuts. They rooted in no time and are powering along with zero etoliation. A very reliable hardy tricho.
Bridgesii 'Jeans' is honestly one of my FAVOURITE clones. Its bloody beautiful, for me they are a nice lighter coloured bridge, with a gorgeous baby blue tinge.

An amazing clone, and I thank @Sir Jeans for introducing it to the wider community. Bloody beautiful Aussie Bridge!   -   If you can get your hands on it, jump at the chance!

It's not a matter of 'deserving' anything, it's just a way to keep track of parentage and genetics. A code-name  like J001a would be just as appropriate, but a familiar name is just easier to remember.

Put it this way  -Which of these three would interest you from most to least...

Pachanoi x bridgesii;

Hahn Pach x Bridge 'Cliff';

or PC x Bridge 'hybrid'

There is no correct answer to this of course, names just help keep track of what's what.

Hypothetically the first two could be the exact same clone, or the first and third could be the exact same clone. Obviously we can't name every clone out there , but imagine if most of the named plants in your collection had never been named at all. The more information the better.

I dare you to go and dump most of your tags and say you couldn't care less about the parentage.

I'm not saying any of this in an aggressive or condescending tone by the way. Just presenting as pure statement/opinion.

Hi All,

I only just saw this thread, great to see that the name has stuck with this one! And yes, it really is a very beautiful variety! I initially collected it from an elderly lady up in a hilly region of Australia from a very old plant. It looked quite unique to me, hence why I gave it it's own name :) I've never seen it flower unfortunately, but I'm hoping I'll have some of my older plants flower in the next year or two.

I'm actually going to be taking some cuttings and putting them up for sale on here in the next week or two. If anyone wants to get in early and express interest, feel free to do so - that way I can reserve a piece for you. Selling these at 0.80 per cm, minimum length of 30cm per cutting.

Cheers,

Jeans

"Jeans" is a sexy fucker. I give it 2-3 more years before I get flowers. I hope it surprises me and I get them sooner though!

Be sure to hit up the Sir if you'd like some cuts, great prices for a sexy cactus.

Here are some pics of one of mine to get you all excited. :)

Your jeans specimen is amazing @zed240 soooo bushy with all limbs at similar length/maturity  -  such a beautiful compact bushy bridgesii... reallly really beautiful!
Yes kgrens, Jeans report is regarding this specific clone... Its an amazing visually aesthetic beautiful tricho, an all round winner.

If you are looking for other beautiful aussie clone names I also suggest seeking out the Bridgesii 'Cliff' clone.
It has an epic story behind its importation to Australia from a lovely old Sri Lankan man (named Cliff) who received it from a German grower as a child. Has brilliant potential too.
Hit up @Ambient or @Mapacho for this cliff clone, they were the ones responsible for rescuing it from Cliff's backyard (with his permission) as he was dying in hospital.

Does anyone in the US have a cutting of either Jeans or Cliff that they'd be willing to part with? I can pay but also have a number of desirable tricho cuts if you'd prefer a trade.

Wowow lucky you Pedro...
If you can propagate and expand those clones mate, I reckon they would be worth a  PRETTY PENNY  in your parts of the world.
Grats man, I received two cuts from Jeans last week. Been slack with the feedback. Will get to it shortly.

I love this clone  :)

Thanks skellum, good to hear that yours arrived.

Thats a unique tricho I can add to pedropark.

The purpose is and will be spreading trichos to others who love cacti.

I have been meaning to take some pics of this, and today seems like a great day to update this thread.

Happy Birthday, Sir Jeans!!

One of your babies is flowering for me on a couple of columns this year. I am SUPER stoked about this, as it has genetics that deserve to be spread.

I have 2 large plants I don't cut, (and some smaller ones I'll cut if needed). I have wanted these 2 big ones to produce flowers, and the one in the pot has now done so! It's much scrappier looking and slower to grow than it's clone I have in the ground, which pumps out massive linear growth on all 8 of it's columns each year, but no signs of flowers on that one.

5a2d1ad392e01_PC109032Jeans(smut).thumb.JPG.1855fb1ce98adfcdbfeb2fdd71f58f53.JPG   5a2d1ade291f0_PC109031Jeans(smut).thumb.JPG.0575f04a17dbffc58ac06ac09293b953.JPG

And a comparison of the one flowering in the pot, and the much larger one in the ground.

5a2d1abcbe098_PC109036Jeans(smut).thumb.JPG.726058e2ceae8d880ada0ee5c7e30831.JPG   5a2d1aca1ccdc_PC109035Jeans(smut).thumb.JPG.7d5688f5a242fe7d5394183543a956f5.JPG

So it won't happen this year, but this is one step towards possibly being to make Jeans X Eileen and vice versa, at some stage. :) This year the crosses will be something else.
