TheExplorer Posted February 22, 2012 (edited) That is amazing. She should start her own business (if she hasn't already); people pay ridiculous sums for cakes of that quality. All of the cake is edible and I was eaten by 25 six year olds last Saturday Are you ok now? Edited February 22, 2012 by TheExplorer
at0m Posted February 22, 2012 (edited) I'm a male turning 20 at the end of the year. I want that cake more than you can possibly imagine. *Edit: Firstly, it's amazing. Seriously. If there's one criticism I can make it's a distinct lack of the white rabbit Edited February 22, 2012 by at0m
shruman Posted February 22, 2012 That is insane, kudos to your little lady Kinda bummed the caterpillar does'nt have his hookah Kate is a very lucky girl.
GoOnThen Posted February 22, 2012 Are you ok now? Ha ha oops I had better edit that She loves making cakes for our daughters birthdays. As you can imagine many hours go into making a cake like this. Making cakes like this as a business would be the ultimate job for her and we have talked about it we just need to work out how much of a market there is for cakes that cost hundreds and into thousands of dollars Cheers Got
ballzac Posted February 22, 2012 That is incredible man. I wish I had a mum with cake making skills like that. Apart from just the skill in producing something like that, the actual design is great too. All the references are spot on and the composition is perfect. GoOnThen Posted February 22, 2012 Kinda bummed the caterpillar does'nt have his hookah That must be why he is sad Cheers Got
GoOnThen Posted February 22, 2012 If there's one criticism I can make it's a distinct lack of the white rabbit On the bottom part of the cake (the green part) you can see a blank spot with nothing really happening that is were the rabbit was supposed to be but she ran out of time to make him so we went rabbit-less. Cheers Got
tipz Posted February 22, 2012 (edited) That truly is an amazing piece of artwork ! I am pretty blown away ! RESPECT !!! I can't even begin to imagine how many hours went into that ! But Im sure young Katelyn will look back in future years at these photos and will feel damn proud and nostalgiac. ( let alone the joy she got from it on her birthday ! ) I used to have foxtel - and there is a show on there called 'ace of cakes' ( that I actually did watch once or twice - shhhh ) and in all seriousness that cake is on-par if not better than anything that a team of many of their artists could produce ! Kudos to her man ! ( edit - spelling ) Edited February 22, 2012 by tipz

GoOnThen Posted May 15, 2012 I just showed my wife this thread for the first time and she thinks you are all so sweet and thanks you all for your kind words. We are collecting all of the photos that we have of the cakes she has made over the years so we can put together a presentation file. This hobby is going to become a business very soon going by the requests for cakes that she is getting already. I will try and post pics of the other cakes soon. At some stage soon there will be a Lophophora cake but we might have to wait for my birthday in September Cheers Got

Belching Posted June 5, 2012 Those flowers are fantastic, especially the ones on the cupcake! I admire anyone who can make a sugar flower without it turning to a sticky mess.

GoOnThen Posted July 2, 2012 Thanks again for all of the kind words Here is the latest cake made for one of my employees grandson and my youngest daughters from last year. There are still a couple of photos I still need to find. One is a Eiffel Tower cake made for my eldest daughters birthday last year which was very impressive. Amazonian Posted July 2, 2012 ^ ^... Thats not cake making.... That's art!!!. I am a fan of Grover by the way(it is Grover..isnt it?)
GoOnThen Posted July 2, 2012 (edited) It is Grover He is all cake except the arms, legs and nose which are fondant. He was about 40cm high and would have been over 5 kg. My wife always loved all kinds of art but she never had a the time to really do much just bits and pieces but she has found she loves making cakes. Even though most are done in the early hours of the mornings and they take many hours to complete she loves it. I bought her a compressor and an air brush for mothers day Happy wife happy life Cheers Got Edited July 2, 2012 by GoOnThen
