Tassiescott
Loving this fat little seedling. Nearly killed it by overwatering last year, lost the other 2 seedlings. Seeds off ebay from France. Was sold as San Pedro seeds. Given the large spikes maybe a Peruvianus? Is almost as wide as it is high IMG20200318084457-converted.pdf IMG20200318084317-converted.pdf Edited March 17, 2020 by Tassiescott

Black Rainbow
Grafted up a bunch of Halycon Daze's unlabelled variegated seedlings. Stoked I'm not the only person in Toowoomba who is Tricho serious :D Looking forward to doing more work in his impressive garden! Unrelated but also got some of HD's chilli on my eyes and genitals today. Not so stoked.

Strontium Dawg
Went on scale patrol today. Cleaned up a lot of plants, gave them some eco neem. A few plants have gotten a bit fungal recently so I gave these ones a treatment with anti rot (phosphorus acid). Grafted a few variegated seedlings that I'd better give away before I kill! Things are generally looking amazing at this time of year, but with all the rain and sun they're really glowing. I had a similar day. Bit of scale patrol, and a long overdue cleanup of scale on a TPM using your isopropyl and detergent method from an old thread. Then tried a few grafts for the first time in many years. I was pretty clumsy, but I hope at least this Psycho0 x Barracuda seedling takes:
Strontium Dawg
I've given up on iso and detergent, I'd be doing it all day every day lol. I use my hose with a particular setting on the nozzle now, it is so effective at knocking them off with causing any damage to the plants. I only use the toothbrush on seedlings now. After this, I give them a spray with eco neem and it keeps them off for a few weeks to a few months, depending on the conditions. Scale is loving this cooler weather and rain hey. Strontium Dawg
Spent the morning weeding all my pots, and didn't even get (badly) stabbed today! I'll have the most pampered cactus collection ever by the end of this lockdown!

I don't have much problem with scale. If I get it, I'll be hitting you up for info on what type of hose nozzle to buy. My main pest is fungus gnats (I think its that). No matter how much I let soil dry out, I get these little bastards munching on roots. So neem doesn't burn the cacti? I might give it a try. I've got a neem tree I need to repot asap, hoping to make my own neem oil one day.

naja naja
Finally unearthed a pile of cacti from beneath a heap of kikuyu and planted them in the ground. nothinghead
Moved some plants from pot to pot to try to optimise space, since dropping by Bunnings apparently carries the risk of a 1k fine these days. Even without the fine, why does a plastic bucket with holes in the bottom cost up to about 15 bucks for the cheapest type? Seems a bit rich. Then noticed that this pach has some pale spots developing. Hoping it is not a virus:

nothinghead
sweet cheers naja. enjoyed your cactus pics, btw, but couldn't see the ones in the most recent post at a decent size... in your unearthed from kikuyu post, it looks like an eileen on the left, then a tpm, then a tbm, and what's the fourth cactus from the left? naja naja
Good eye, first from left is Eileen. Then next is a seed grown monstrose/crest from nitrogen’s seeds. I forget the exact cross but it has bridgesii spikes. The next large one is a seed grown icaro. Then a seed grown yowieXpsycho0, then Kai, then psycho0 and last is another Eileen. And the front row is all TBM’s ive edited the thumbnail so hopefully it will enlarge now when u click on it. sagiXsagi
as temps are pretty warm here, doing transplants, sowing ferobergia seed (next: stenocactus + ferocactus hybrids) and , exterminating snails, with which I still have a problem. A particular 'nest' did some damage to some psych0 specimens, but thankfully they didnt eat the tips.

Scale is loving this cooler weather and rain hey. fucking scales.. most people suggest spraying the with the right chemical, repeat after 10-15 days, and then wash.. I have been trying the washing, but I dont think the washing alone does it.. at least not permanently. But I guess if they scales are many ,one could first wash away the most, then spray (twice) and then wash again... It also depends on the cactus, I dont think I have ever got it on trichos.
