Inyan
Fail to trim and you scion will fail to grow. Case in point So, you can guess that in addition to rectifying this travesty by trimming my stock plants today I also made a handful of grafts as is the case most days. While I was at it though, I also took a Pereskiopsis from full sun to partial shade to demonstrate dark green growth on bottom half indicative of full sun exposure and light green growth on top showing shade growth

Still too small to show anything interesting, I have one of each grafted, about the same.size as yours.
mkcobain
Hey Guys I need your help. I live in Turkey and it is almost impossible to find active cacti here. Today I bought these from a local nursery for quite cheap price. I am going to replant them in larger pots. BUt some of them got quite thin. should I cut and replant or just leave them as they are? do you think I can save them with lots of care? it is about to be october so weather will get colder in here. any opinion appreciated. MeanGreen
Just to be clear these are Myrtillocactus geometrizans, not Trichocereus in case you thought they were. They look fairly healthy, since you're going into winter now I would wait until Spring before taking cuttings. Your best bet is probably to order seeds if you can't find Tricho cuttings locally. 2

Thanks MeanGreen. I am a bit disappointed but I heard they make good root stock for grafting.

You cut a lot of tissue off which helps the seedling dry out faster. Increasing humidity or simply placing parafilm stretched out over your grafted scion would have prevented the seedling from drying out. If you have a big seedling like you appear to have had, try cutting it down so the seedling forms a square or a rectangle with the small size down/horizontal and the long sides up/vertical if grafting with areoles pointing upwards. I sometimes graft seedlings on their side to good effect as well, but that is just for play. You want a nice fat seedling for that and you barely go into the tissue at all.
Humboldt
Hi, this graft is about 3 months old. Today i noticed one side of the loph looking dehydrated. Its the side copping the sun so ive moved it to a filtered spot. The stock is firm and has bulked up a little but is a cutting itself so not well rooted i assume. Ive watered it twice over the last 3 weeks. Located in Sth Tas so temps arent much over 18c but in the window temps are 30c+. Have i given it too much sun for the age of the graft and root development of the stock? Any advice greatly appreciated
