That looks beautiful! I'm not a professional either, I barely even rank as "amateur", but from everything I've learned you have done a damn-near perfect job. Especially for dry (no mortar) work, which is extra-tricky to get stable. Nice work! :worship:

Today I opened up two boxes one containing a spineless scop. The other containing a no name peruvianus, and two different bridgesii 'space man's cut' and a 'loopicus'. Never heard the bridgesii but they were healthy and needed a home. I'll get some pictures tomorrow.

If it is a tersch it's a very good looking clone , can you get any more?, perhaps smaller, cuttings?

if it's a hybrid , ... it does appear to be a bit taquimby in a way ... what colour do the spines go?.. like if you wet one.

if chocolatey red then perhaps taquimbo was a parent (sorry, taquimbalensis I mean)

Right now I am not in the garden, again next week. Traveling a lot atm. Its a lot of back and forth, north and south you know.

I will contact the grower for more, information of this plant. Got it last week, when i picked up other plants on the way to south. I had no intention to buy it, but after I saw it and looked at it, for quite a time, he asked me for buying it. I gave him my last cash.

We had not enough time to talk about lineage or place of origin.

I ll keep you updated.

Today was a very slow day, but nevertheless I was able to get a few Zelly seedlings grafted. Looks like I will have to order some more grafting stock before too much longer as I have several hundred more grafts to go. For those of you watching and wondering why I do so many different grafting styles... its because I like to push my limits and my comfort zone as much as I like to push the limits of my cacti.

I don't always have the seeds to plant. When that happens I do odd things like behead an all yellow Trichocereusalbinograft.thumb.jpg.e1598e493ff71bb270134bbc92ea0d3e.jpg and graft another seedling to it like I did today. Here is hoping the lil fellow will make some good roots for my seedling once it is de-grafted.

Flowers at the  2-3 year mark from seed is my goal with this one. I feel this is a worthwhile goal and one I have jumped on the bandwagon following others that have already laid the ground work for this. Suffice it to say I will be happy enough if they take a full 2-3 years to bloom even with grafting. Waiting and watching for those flowers never gets old and is indeed very exciting.

Got this in the mail yesterday. It was listed as 'penis plant'. Looked like it could be a long form TBM so I bought it. What do you veterans think?

Unless its crested, every Penis I've seen looks the same. Definitely not going to be much help for you.

Just finished up with as much as I could do today. Last photo's of the dayIMG_2415.thumb.jpg.c90e34aff7cc3f439961d2d0478d6634.jpg....IMG_2414.thumb.jpg.1b41ac197202c5971030d19729d98ad9.jpg

Today was not a good day. As you can see, many of my brand new graftsbabygraftsandseedlingcups.thumb.jpg.0e908485a117e148a0a6776a4f1a6b62.jpg were destroyed as well as some grafting stockoutsidegreenhouse3.thumb.jpg.2c4f439a1444047cd7e3280fd0b0d251.jpg. Damage was found both in the green house and outside of the green house. Most upsetting wasn't the fact that many crests, variegates, etc. are now unlabeled and unknowns now... but in fact almost all of my grafts have had labels removed or tossed. It is not a good day for me to say the least. I found one small seedling that had been de-grafted while trying to fix everything up and suffice it to say I did re-graft the unknown seedling now and after that I pretty much lost the heart to do much else in the green house. Sadly, many of the crested and variegates I had were slated to be given out as gifts once they matured a bit more. Deep breathe in and relax. Now, I have to wait and see how many grafts will still pull through after having just been grafted in the last 3-4 days. This is going to be one heck of a learning experience.

Uff, brother. That is a shock also for me to see this. Stand up and as you said take a deep breath. I send you supportive feelings and thoughts. Pain hurts, when you can transform this pain and overcome it, then another part of the ego is transformed into love. Thats what i send you, love.

hope I was right in my guesses but for topic ,,, I brought a bunch of these secksy fat bitches indoors just in case of stormy weather which turned out not to be that much but was sure nice to sit inside next to them again and stare at them for a few hours before the sky gods stopped playing ball and could see not very much but then the sillhouette show was to die for especially on the spines..

first I took them for a scrub down in the shower so porn alert

Fed the seedlings today. Here's a peak into one of the boxes. Going to be some work in the future potting these little guys and gals. I would like to wait until mid February to repot them. My cactus never really fully go dormant and stop all growth but they don't grow much from mid november-mid February.

While she can not prove it, my significant other suspects the neighbors daughter who has been caught going through our barn, green house, etc. before. As it stands I have already lost several grafts as they have clearly detached from their stock plants and as many were areole grafts to begin with there is not much if anything to recut so they are gone in the wind to say the least. I am still holding out hope on some grafts, but it is hard to tell when you are dealing with parafilm as it is hard to see through it. If you try to tamper with it you will ruin the graft for sure... so it is a game of hurry up and wait to see exactly what can be salvaged.

damn .. cctv? booby traps? allowed to kill intruders there?

i thought it was the storms ..

Grafting looks hard and sounds hard ..., even after having 3 successes with seedlings to try salvage a seed tray of what started out as loads of op zelidus.

On the subject of graftages .. I've been tumbling the idea over for ages in the cactery.

The amount of fails was bad enough naturally without sabotage.

..still mourning my very first ever tricho germinate that I tried to rescue grafting (a werder') but would have been better off left alone and wasn't doing anything wrong but being slow..

still, I'm happy the huge macrogonus I tried to regraft a tip to pupped at the tip really well after booting the graft off.

been very hesitant to bother grafting again since at least for now , I daren't slice any SASS or validus hybrids and don't even wanna imagine tacaquirensis losses.

Probably need to establish shit in my little mini horsetralia before returning to the power of which graft.

Beautiful specimens you have there ☽Ţ ҉ĥϋηϠ₡яღ☯ॐ€ðяئॐ♡Pϟiℓℴϟℴ. I can tell you though that if you have one success at grafting you are in danger of having many more successes. You simply have to listen to what your grafts are telling you. Each time you graft you learn something then your doing something right even if your grafts are not all taking.

Love the lights you have going on in your cacti room. That is totally cool.

I just learned for instance, grafts don't do very well when they are literally tossed or thrown outside or flipped upside down early in the grafting process. I suspect I will find that at least a few will make it though. At least I have high hopes that some will make it. To that end, I made another 30 grafts today... of course now that my tags have all been moved or tossed about as well I don't know what I'm actually grafting. So, I've decided simply to graft as many seedlings as I can and hope that I find something worth keeping later after they have all bloomed. It is going to be a slow process as no matter what I think I keep getting interrupted and find it hard to graft more than 20-30 seedlings without someone coming to take up my time.
