Just googled it, the flowers are identical to what they looked like in bloom. I think you're right Hostilis!

Was also given permission by the owner to grab a small cutting, woohoo :)

I arrived home today only too find out that Mushrooms have began too grow inside of my humidity done that I have been trying too sow some tricho. Seeds .

I think my problem could have been that I microwaved for 5 minutes as an attempt too sterilize the batch.

Is my tray contaminated since it now had mushrooms fruiting ?

MrDoRight, no microwave needed if you use 100% mineral based soils and use distilled water.

In one tray I've got nothing but crushed gravel as the rooting medium, in others pure sand.

Organic soils and humidity domes can lead to lots of mold issues.

Zelly , Thanks for the advice :)

I still have a good portion of seeds left over so the next time I sow I will not sterilize .

Today I bought a few new cactus at DepotHOme ; A small terescheeckii , a gymnocalcium labeled "plaid cactus" , Aloe Var Zanzibarica, A South african native succulent labeled "Tiger Jaws" .

Last week I applied 6_BAP too my (N1) X(huarazensis) and 2 pups are beginning too poke thier way from lower areoles .

I applied a small amount too a few of my other plants including A TBM , 4 different gymnocalciums , a young variagted golden barrel , copiapoa Esmeralda ,

I cut up a pachanoi and gave it away too 3 of my friends who all of a sudden all have an intrest in growing cacti :)

BAP is nice sometimes. Although TBM's don't really need BAP to pup. Just be careful not to overload a plant with it or else it'll abort the main section and get stunted pretty bad. I made like 1lb of lanolin/bap cream a while back and did some cool experiments with it

sprayed every cactus in mighty wash

fed the yellow 2 some miracle grow

fed everything with kelp cacti food and a dose of phostrogen - i used tomato food last time = 3 waterings ago

I bought a super baddass Trichocereus werdermannianus from papizinha on ebay who just made it so I don't have to use bank transfer

which saves an £8 bank charge :£

same place I got my 2 big macrogonus from the other week

I'm saying this about it here because I cant fault them so far for expertly packaged and fast delivery and I reckon at least EU folk reading this might like this guy

if this is a wrong place to put this (note to admin/moderator) please let me know where I can put it and share this awesomesauce, awesome source with folk who would appreciate it

http://www.ebay.de/usr/papizinha429gho?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

but yeah they have one left at the moment and some huge gorgeous pasacana (that i cant quite afford now) too.. not yet listed but i'll bet if you wrote to them

they would help

um yeah what else..

the rebutia started to flower like mad

the AZ snow caps are growing fast and the new growth on them is one of the prettiest phenomena I've come across in cactacea

pereskiopsis leaves are looking very pretty indeed almost like mirrors

hylocereus costaricensis is half way through the cotyledon stage ..

the large loph is making another fruit and must have flowered sneakily without me noticing :)

large knuthianus/ altman strain pachanoi cut is growing nicely despite not having rooted yet

finally got the gorgeous coloured new spine growth on the fulvilanus/deserticola

candicans has begun to take on the bioluminescent look with all the heat and sun lately

got word my validus cut is healing ok and should be posted pretty soon (terbo excited)

the pachanoi, that i straightened with a mushroom box against the window, has grown an inch since doing that (nice to have the box top to measure growth from)

and has developed the frosty coating on the stretched part ....that frosty coating that I asked about in a thread here and got no reply to

so I am gathering they make that frost when their skin is turgid during growth and it stays there as long as it's left there

I toyed with the idea of buying some more werdermannianus seeds from a location data collected source; who absolutely rawks - succseed in sweden

and checked SAB for new Tricho seeds

I made 16 new south american contacts, in the hunt for virola; to help search for more validus genetics too

still no reply from BEF pots , I hope nobody there died or anything... : / might explain the lack of supplies...

ran a flame up and down a few cacti that had suspect webs, hopefully from regular spiders , there are quite a few species of those in the cactus lounge of Horsia

Not exactly today, but anyhow, I got the Trichocereus collection outdoors a few days ago. The other shot is a little cactus garden I've had in a bay window in the same pot for a very very long time. I little secret about making these small collections that are for show and not propagation or size, and avoiding them outgrowing the container; use Coryphanta, in this case C. runyonii v. violaceae and C. compacta, as the genus has the ability to inhibit the growth of other genera that grow near. The other plants are Mammillaria heyderii in flower, Turbinicarpus jauernigii, and Echinocereus triglochidiatus.

today i cleared a lot of patch ready for the exportation of my cactus collection from the tropic of horsia

to the temperate of horsia (the other side of the glass)

bleach was the most useful substance of the day

anticipating sneaky frost...despite the lilacs being in full bloom (ye olde indicator)

so I'm going to make them wait a while, in the meantime I sprayed them with mighty wash after seeing a new type of mite

crawling on the outside of the window, and knowing full well they can get in through the skeeter screens... blasted the lot

fed Trichocereus/echinopsis tarijensis

gallery_14443_783_382275.jpg

checked germinatia and all is well and fkn mighty successful i might add

found a validus supplier , will be sure to share (dependent on them actually arriving)

plants adoring the heat and sunshine (quelle surmuthafknprise?)

I planted 3 cacti in the garden and put all of the opuntias out

Managed to get some cacti in the ground where I work. So I now have two different environments I can put cacti in and let their roots free! The soil at this location seems to be a bit better quality than the sand at my parent's house so I am excited to see how they like it. It also gets more direct sunlight than on the coast where it's mostly overcast diffuse light.

Here's what I have in there so far.

post-13244-0-80541300-1398922630_thumb.j

Also managed to get a hold of some to-go containers that I have found are great for starting seedlings.

Took a heap of Hylocereus and Pereskiopsis cuttings to have another go at grafting some Mammilaria, Astro and golden barrel seedlings. My 1st attempt resulted in the tragic death of all scions involved.. Practice makes perfect yeah?? :scratchhead:

--please confirm this for me, you guys are better at this than me. I have a local friend who has like a 5ft mother of this. He bought it as "KK242" like 5-8 years ago probably. It was the only cactus he's owned. As soon as I saw it, I thought it was cuzco. Not to mention I know the whole KK242 drama. He refuses to believe me no matter how many pictures/threads I show him about it. I won't tell him if it is cuzco, it's better than breaking his heart. Of course I also think he's totally full of crap because he tries to convince me that that a 4-6 cutting...causes you to stare at it for 7-8 hours because it's so beauttiful . Which, seems a rather small cutting even for the most beautiful Trichs :BANGHEAD2:

Grafted a tip of "Zeus" to a Stenocereus, since Stenocereus can handle our intense sun better than any columnar I've grown.

Just wanted to compare the speed of growth and the green color to other Zeus growing on their own roots.

I've done the same with a melted wax bridgesii and the graft is way faster and darker green than those on their own roots (which look more yellow)

Megestrol may help relieve spine pain, and it can improve appetite and weight gain.1

Side Effects

Side effects of megestrol may include:

Nausea.

Weight gain.

Fluid collection in the feet and ankles (edema).

Vaginal bleeding.

Megestrol may raise your risk for dangerous blood clots (deep vein thrombosis). This risk is even higher if you are a cactus who smokes or if you have had blood clots in the past. :D
