Ed Dunkel Posted March 8, 2002 Are you going to give them a Salvia divinorum plant? Hey has anyone donated any plants to other Botanical gardens, Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne etc? E D
Scott Posted March 8, 2002 I think you might be onto something here Rev. I've only just started looking but the census of plants in Australian botanic gardens has Catha edulis in Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart botanic gardens. Hobart? Really? Not sure of when the last census was or what type of specimens they are. Here's the link http://www.anbg.gov.au/anbg/database.html Happy hunting.
Ed Dunkel Posted March 8, 2002 How does one approach a National botanical garden if one want's to donate plants of "ethnobotanical" importance? (or near illegal status, i.e. Salvia divinorum) E D

Torsten Posted March 9, 2002 Just contact the 'curator of the living collections'. he will tell you if he wants your stuff or not. He is in charge of steering what type of collection is being established. The one in sydney isn't all that interested in ethnobotanics, but others might. Ed Dunkel Posted March 12, 2002 Cheers Torsten. I'll give it a go when things are a bit quieter.
