CβL Posted July 30, 2011 So I just came across this photo here, which absolutely stunned me. Please add more, or just comment.
MindExpansion Posted July 30, 2011 Jewish slumber party at Bergen-Belsen Not cool man. Not cool at all.
CβL Posted July 30, 2011 A related question: Can something be funny and highly offensive? Or are they mutually exclusive? I believe some people try and keep them mutually exclusive. And Psylo, your counter-example is not quite the same. We may mock Christians, or Islamists, for their views, but we don't make jokes about their torture and/or death. MindExpansion Posted July 30, 2011 I like offensive funny... but genocide isn't really in that category...
Evil Genius Posted July 30, 2011 (edited) Psylo, i set some of your posts as invisible because i felt they were pretty offensive. Its actually not only the picture that was a problem. The picture of a jewish mass grave is sad history but to overwrite it with "Jewish Slumber Party" felt wrong on so many levels that i need to think about what to do with this thread and what happens next! The Thread can continue for now but i feel the need to warn you! I have absolutely no sense of humor when its about stuff like this! I take it dead serious and any further troll posts will result in immediate warning points or timeouts. This is not b and that kind of stuff wont happen here. Marcel Posted July 30, 2011 The whole premise of this thread is to court that which is offensive. It's a snuff porn thread, clear and simple. It might be disguised as some sort of cautionary history lesson, but let's not kid ourselves. I missed Psylo's post (I get the gist of it) but to decide that it was somehow unacceptable is like going to a 100 person orgy and pointing out a foot fetishist and calling him a "pervert". If anything needs to be banned, it's probably the whole thread. What's more, I'm not sure the term "indiscriminate" is apt in the above examples. There's nothing random about them. All are examples of careful and precise isolation of human groups and animals by other humans/animals. End rant. PS: And yes, like the rest of you, I'm guilty of clicking this thread just to satisfy my curiosity. I'm ashamed of myself, as should the rest of you who are reading this.
CβL Posted July 30, 2011 Indiscriminate is not identical to random. The reason I used that word is that I have always had a certain connotation with 'indiscriminate' as being tragic. While randomness does not hold that same connotation at all. Maybe it's just me? Furthermore, Marcel, I think you are completely missing the point. The point is to spur some emotion over the senseless death that has gone, and that will come. Maybe a few of us will get angry and hurt enough to do something about it. I know for one, I will be doing something - when I think the integration of my resources and time will result in what I determine to be of maximum benefit to all of life (Lifekind, as I will now coin the term, if it has not already been). So I don't know how you can confuse that, with snuff porn. If it was not obvious, the subtitle was highly sarcastic (is that what confused you?). Looking at that absolutely colossal tower of bison skulls, sickens me in a new way. And it's not unique. This is occuring right now, with people, animals (not that people aren't animals), and plants (not that animals are more deserving of compassion than plants).

CβL Posted July 30, 2011 If you have nothing useful to post, why post at all? Do you get your jollies posting meme images? Are you rolling on your carpet - is that your goal? Do you think it makes you look cool and nonchalant instead of looking like a banal wastrel?
chnt Posted July 30, 2011 there is a a reason and a purpose for transgressive art, or transgression even if you cant understand why, it can be a healthy thing to have your morals offended. a simple example would be offending religious types by calling jesus a cunt, they are offended by the statement and the use of vulgar language, some people can get extremely offended by "curse words" and they take a high moral ground and think they are better than people who use them, but then they dont have a problem with ostracizing and ridiculing homosexuals, increasing their rate of suicide, there are many many many other examples. i think the majority of the members here should be able to see what i'm saying, the hypocrisy of those high moral types related to the immorality of drug prohibition, the same people who condemn "scum" like proverbially you or me for something we might or might not take and then go consume some alcohol without a second thought.. who will happily see drug users go to jail, and not have anything weigh down their conscience. post #10 is a good response to #9.
watertrade Posted July 30, 2011 I love bluntmuffins original pic, it's amazing , and psylos first pictures are interesting too. There was ( and is, as far as I'm concerned) no problem with the thread but If I had of logged in earlier I would have done exactly like EG and edited Psylos post. And issued him another warm point . (Not many left to issue!) ;) I also agree with Marcel, I don't think 'indiscriminate killing' is quite the right title of the thread. The topic of death and the images of death have an interesting and long history which would make for a great discussion. However, what this shouldn't become is a competition to outdo other posters with more graphic images or make offensive and disrespectful comments. I don't like editing or 'censoring' other peoples posts but to keep the chill forum populated with content (rather than dumping it all in degenerated threads or deleting them) we have to maintain some standard. It may be a bit off topic but Blunts original post reminds me of Sedlec Ossuary http://en.wikipedia..../Sedlec_Ossuary
Torsten Posted July 30, 2011 I don't think joking about human misery of this scale is ever acceptable and I find nothing funny about it. I like this thread because some of the images are very powerful, but I think the topic requires respect. I think if psylo's sister, brother and parents' rotting corpses were in a picture like that he probably wouldn't find his caption amusing either. Let's not allow the scale of the massacre to anonymise the individual suffering because it was exactly that anonymity that allowed this tragedy to unfold. I am certainly not someone who defends religions, but in this context it doesn't matter that the descriptor is that of a religion. If it said 'gypsy slumberparty' or 'gay slumberparty' I would find that just as offensive. I also like offensive art if there is a purpose to it. To make people think and re-evaluate their standards for example. A captions like psylo's just makes me feel sorry for him for his lack of empathy of the situation and history.
CβL Posted July 30, 2011 The thing to remember is that although you are not hurting the situation by avoiding fur clothing, you're not helping either. It's somewhat analogous to the African crisis, where you avoid spreading AIDS. You're also not helping the situation with your kind sentiments of feather-weight. If you care, then you will help (money is not help, for the record), if you are not helping - then your care is just as tenuous as your help.
Psylo Posted July 30, 2011 any further troll posts will result in immediate warning points or timeouts. This is not b and that kind of stuff wont happen here. For the record, he means it DID result in warn points. Another was added this afternoon. One to go, this moderator bullying is just about to push me out the door, quite simply because I dared anger an oversensitive long term member recently. If anyone wishes to maintain contact in future for meets, trades, freebies etc I can be reached on [email protected] where matters can be discussed privately, without monitoring etc. Any promised freebies pending will be honoured next week if in the likelihood I have already been shafted by the management. And I couldnt give a fuck about the jewish genocide. Im not going to be ashamed about my lack of empathy, and seek no sorrow from others for my opinion on the matter. Maybe if I had brought up the exploitation of Palestine, all you bleeding hearts might change your jew-sympathist tune
synchromesh Posted July 30, 2011 Kinda wish I never saw that last pic, bluntmuffin. What the fuck, man?
CβL Posted July 30, 2011 (edited) No need to be ashamed about a lack of empathy. It requires empathy to understand that you should be ashamed. A bit of a catch-22. The point is that you have belittled the tragedy of 6 million or so tortured and then murdered humans, not what f***ing books they believe are true. It does not require empathy to understand that making fun of it is not acceptable here, as you have been told clearly. There's no Aspergers to fall back onto in this second case. Edit: Kinda wish I never saw that last pic, bluntmuffin. What the fuck, man? Don't like it do you? Want to make it go away? It won't. Not until this kind of thing stops. As soon as we all realize that a part of us is being maimed and dies every time one of those seals' skulls are cracked open, as soon as this can stop. I don't quite know if farming cows is on the same level as this, as in many (but not all) cases, the cow's meat and milk were necessary for survival. But that's another story. I just brought it up to avoid it being discussed early on. So once the preliminaries are over, unleash the vegXan stuff. 2nd Edit: What I wrote in the first edit was not directed to you Psylo. It was toward synchro, and I decided to edit the post rather than make a new one, just as I decied to edit a second time. Psylo Posted July 30, 2011 On the contrary, I have an intense feeling of sadness about the Kampuchea situation. Keep your assumptions of me to yourself. I'm not going to argue anything about my feelings towards the jewish genocide, I think my stance is clear enough, and it's not likely to change.

Seldom Posted July 30, 2011 ^^^^ what is your deal, why would you want to have those images in your life. i just wanted to derail the thread push it away from the corpses, you say it was useless but at least my post didn't have masses of dead animals that had been clubbed to death. wierdo.
