PD. Posted April 27, 2011 (edited) Rosei#1 Rosei#2 Psycho0 Rosei#1 Most good perus have a nice blue, icaro seedlings etc. Depending on conditions lots of my plants are a nice blue, j1 2 and 3 all show nice blue especially when shade grown, psycho0 is the bluest bridgie ive seen and the blue flows thru on some hybrids thereof. Super pedro can become blue at times aswell. I cbf going thru my photos to get all the pics of blues but yeh, most plants show it at some time or another even good ol PC pach does. A batch of "pachanoi" seed that did the rounds a few years ago produced some excellent peru type plants that are blue as, Gerbil has some pictures here somewhere of them, worth checkin them out. interbeing Posted April 28, 2011 A couple peruvians.
Halcyon Daze Posted April 28, 2011 (edited) As mentioned, a lot has to do with the position of the cacti. I planted these 2 psycho0s in a semi-shaded position to make them grow as blue as possible and it worked. These get 3 -4 hours morning sun followed by bright-lit shade for the rest of the day. Psycho0s really get that electric blue look to them but I assume some other varieties would go even bluer if planted with a similar aspect. Planting in these conditions was a bit of an experiment in blueness, there are probably some cons like less flowers etc, but that's the trade off you have to consider. Mine seem happy enough in these conditions and I think they are built to handle some shade if necessary. The taller one is seven foot high and they are both growing quite fast. bℓσωηG Posted April 29, 2011 It has put out a pup from the base? Yeah man I re-potted it in spring , it must have dug the mix ...It really fattened up , and surprised me with two pups. It's about three and a half feet tall ... I'm sure if they were in the ground they'd grow even better, hopefully will do that real soon ... PDs' pic of the Rosei 2 forest is what i aim for Really enjoying the pics guys, M S Smiths' pic of T. tarmaensis is hawt!
prier Posted April 30, 2011 GOT I have side by side a T.peruvianus from Cactusland and Rosei 2 from interbeing and i cannot tell the difference between them , identical and beautiful , but the one from cactusland which im 99% certain is Rosei has put out pups /pics here: Cactusland have about half a dozen different T. peruvianus varieties, most of the time they just sell roseii1 and roseii2. so most likely what you have is T. peruvianus ROSEII2. mutant Posted May 2, 2011 none of my trichos are very bluish. do I give them too bright sun? some like icaro, superpedro/cordobensis, the bridgesis of course are gaucus, but not very much... I guess I don't have enough and/or mature 'true blue' to judge!!
Gunter Posted May 2, 2011 this is one of the more blue plants i have it is a juuls/peruvianus X bridgesii (SS02)
nothinghead Posted May 3, 2011 none of my trichos are very bluish. do I give them too bright sun? Actually I did notice my trichos in shady places were more glaucus... Keep one in part shade for a tester - then again it could have more to do with cold than shade, and you have a pretty consistently warm climate don't ya?
