BBGONE Posted April 10, 2011 (edited) I have bought monstrose form of bridgesii (longest sections 14 cm). I have no previous experience on how to propagate it more efficiently by cuttings. At what stage of growth can it be made, and how long (their length) they must reach to successfully root them? Can i split shoots (stems) apart and pot them separatly, or is it better that they grow all together in one pot? Thanks in advance! Gunter Posted April 10, 2011 you can cut it into smaller sections and root them, make sure each one has at least an areole, maybe two make the cuts clean, the sharper the knife the better I've been propagating a similar clone using one little 'shot' (as you say) at a time and it works fine

Pardon , instead shot was meant shoot. And how it comes that in one pot there are 4 shoots. This is its growing pattern, that it sprigs them?

WoodDragon Posted April 11, 2011 Personally, I'd just let the little bugger grow a bit for a while. It'll eventually grow big enough that you can break off sections that can be replanted, but if you keep snapping them off whenever they appear you'll end up with a lot of youngun's that don't have much size. Letting it grow and put some roots into the ground will give you more growth on the original plant in the short term, and soon enough you'll have more new shoots than you need to propagate with. And often the plant decides when it's ready to be divided - they have a habit of conveniently growing aerial roots from just the right segment to detach and pot on.
bogfrog Posted April 11, 2011 nice plant you got yourself there
mutant Posted April 11, 2011 from my little experience, rooting single penises is usually pretty fast and it works ok, but it's really slower to get to grow and re-shoot. Rooting penises that have pupped themselves a couple of mini penises [AKA larger segments] is much faster and establish themselves pretty quickly, contrary to single penises. Still if you only got one plant, rooting one penis is maybe yr best bet. This looks a bit dehydrated.
BBGONE Posted April 11, 2011 (edited) This looks a bit dehydrated. Seems it lacked the watering all the winter. P.S.- So, I will pot it all in one pot as is. Edited April 11, 2011 by BBGONE
