Yeah looks like terminalis. also helps if you want id to describe the where you found it in as much detail as possible. Sunny spot? they like sun. Find them in coastal forest or heath, in sandy or clay soils.

Sound like the sort of place you took the pics?

Is kind of tolerant of a few different situations.

I reckon i'm leaning towards Paraserianthes lophantha. Though nutting it out between that and A. terminalis with the photos is a good challenge, played with it a bit and see first sentence.

basing it on the flower structure, which seems quite linear and doesn't seem to be going into 'false panicle', i.e. branching off the linear raceme, the foliage seems to have more sets of pinnae than terminalis has, but i can't see much gland action (only can see some and not the whole of the foliage structure) here's some gland info so you can nut it out, under look alikes http://www.esc.nsw.gov.au/weeds/Sheets/shrubs/S%20Cape%20wattle.htm

some of that to me delineates if straight off, though species branching / variation is a pain in the arse :P

i agree with gerbil.. A. terminalis forms terminal racemes (hence the name) which basically means it flowers from the very end of the branch... it's hard to tell from the photos but it looks like this might not be the case with debs plant..

i voted yes to the poll as obviously good pics matter a lot for plant id... unless everyone involved in the conversation is highly trained in botany..
