If anyone has any spate or could point me in the right direction for some seed I would live to plant this one out on my property. Apparently grows to 20m high? Wow!

Here's my A. courtii grown from folias' seed. 4 out of 5 seeds germinated. Due to lack of space I only kept the strongest and healthiest of the four. Approx. six months old now. Only gets afternoon sun at the moment. Eventually will be planted out with some other wattles on a few acres in the south west of WA. In a 150mm pot for size reference.

Big big thanks to folias. Awesome seeds and awesome plant.

Awesome! I just got a message from a friend today saying he didn't get any of the seeds germinating.

I may be able to get more seeds soon, please don't message me about it, I'll announce it here.

very interested to know how folks did with this acacia.
what kind of soil did you use? (red soil, potting mix)
did you use ash?
did you inoculate it with Rhizobia bacteria?

thankyou all very much.

Just used a sandy mix of standard potting mix and prop sand. Scarred, soaked and sowed. Just treated em like all acacia and didnt overwater and did my best to avoid dampening off etc. Seemed really easy to grow for me and Im generally horticulturally retarded. Will post a pic in a minute of how mines going.

So a friend has just sent me a whole bunch of freshly harvested Acacia Courtii seeds.

Please email me:

[email protected]

with your address and I can send you a seedpod containing 5-10 seeds.

I will stop sending seedpods after one week, and I can spare 50 seedpods to members here.

Paypal donations to:

are very welcome to help cover packaging and postage, and also if you want to support my work, please buy a copy of my book "Articulations", you can purchase a signed copy directly from me for $30 (including shipping) or buy an epub from this web site.

This species is given a good mention in the book, and so I feel something of a responsibility to ensure this species is available to more people and that the wild courtii's are not over harvested. At this point, I'd say the courtii's in the wild are safe, so there is no reason to be greatly alarmed, as there are lots of little tree's on their way up, but a couple of different people have said maybe 2-3 dozen older trees have been felled that they can see, and also as many trees (if not many more) have recently succumbed to borers.

The good news Courtii grows well in most climates and will also grow very large if given the chance! :-)

I honestly feel the best way we can truly protect the trees on the mountain is that people starts growing this tree, so they don't have to go up there to collect from a limited supply of trees to experience what this tree has to offer. I have spoken to one man who says that cultivated courtii phyllodes in brews is quite something to behold, much better than from the wild!

I am aware people are selling plants for the three figure mark, but I am certain after this season, that this price will come right down!

Please also email me if you are wanting to grow decent numbers of this tree or message me here, I just find it easier to process large amounts of messages through email.
