0 karode13 Posted August 24, 2010 A picture would help but it's either P. subaeruginosa, P. aucklandii, Psilocybe weraroa(the correct name) or one of the undescribed species that are in the process of being named. I doubt it is P.makarorae. I'm putting my bets on P. aucklandii, especially if you're around the Auckland/Northland region.

0 karode13 Posted August 24, 2010 Psilocybe aucklandii seems to fit well. Nice find!
0 Zen Peddler Posted August 24, 2010 It looks like aucklandii that the guy on the shroomery used to to find in pinus radiata needles near Dargo. I remember there was also some odd Psilocybes found near Punakyki (spelling?) also on pine I believe. makarorae grows off beach debris - or so its described - and its a pretty attractive mushroom which yours isnt too be honest - it had a very white stem. Id say its aucklandii. or a weird sub or something new - cystidia will tell.

0 gerbil Posted August 24, 2010 (edited) great photos PD! found what i thought was a sub in Yarra Bend Park years ago, looked like the stamets photo of P. zapotecorum, even if it was a different species, dynamic little buggers within single species all the same. haha just noticed the happiest winter pooch.
