pretty pictures, i love the leaves on mimosas..

i heard that new zealand is the only place in the world that exports wasabi to japan. and that the wasabi in restaurants is watered down fuckloads and dyed green.

someone correct me if im wrong please.

lucky, hbw outside. people on my part of the planet have a bit of trouble growing it in glasshouse let alone outside :)

nice one kadkuda, love the last photo, must be some funky animals in there, and absolutely an ethno 100%! folks may be entheo obsessed, but wasabi is ethnobotanical.

Centipede i don't think i've ever had true wasabi, all the 'wasabi' i've seen and had in australia are horseradish pastes. On wiki, they say most pastes are horseradish, mustard and colourings. It really pisses me off, so i usually refuse 'wasabi' these days, uncultured lying dicks we are lol

I've never looked for wasabi roots, but would imagine there'd be some markets in australia that would stock it, probably fairly difficult to find, but just a guess. If you guys in NZ export, then you should be able to find the fresh roots fairly easy :D

Heya,

Thanx for sharing the pics Kada, that kratom looks nice and healthy ya lucky bugger :) Kratom Standard lol.

Not sure if that is a true Mimosa hostilis though. I have a couple of plants the same as the one in your pic and I saw a large hostilis specimen at Tortsen's nursery when I visited earlier in the year. I noticed the thorns were different on Tortsen's to the ones I had and queried its ID.

Can't remember what species he said my plants most likely were but apparently the mimosa is still active just not as high a content.

harry, would love to learn more should you remember. i trust Torsten quite a lot, so would be interested to know what he thinks. though no flowers yet.

centipede, taiwan exports wasabi, but im sure its on a much smaller scale than NZ! i will be taking my family who is visiting taiwan this fall to this area, they always sell the fresh picked root, whole, so if wasabi can be dried and some one wants some pm me :) i cant remember how much it costs. and if anyone is in a google mood checkout Ali Shan, or Ali Mountain. the last pic is in that area, but further in the moutnains towards Jade mountain.

gerbil. the whole area is a mini valley with old growth forest and is always misty. moss everywhere and terraces up each side. super cool there, which i was good enough taking pics to express its reality. if it was a farming area i would say it would be the BEST tripping place for certain plants. i have also found salamanders there, which are not common in tropical countries (its cold at this location) and certainly not common in taiwan.

wondefull pic's, kada!

the resin glands on the mimosa pic are unreal,

the kratom has deep red veins,

the lotus flower is divine,

looks like a good day in the office again! :)

well there looks like there a rock person on the ground looking up into the canopy, nature tripping itself :P I really appreciate those misty areas, we get similar in some areas of my state, it can't be described but the mist in the forests at particular times are just perfect, i doubt most of our society has experienced it to it's full extent let alone know it exists, nice to know similar areas across other countries are being appreciated in similar ways :D

Wish i had a camera today, had a perfect photo of a big old red gum on a misty river, light hit it perfectly but that is so hard to capture, that to me is where my blood is home, i may have desires to go elsewhere, but i can't deny my roots anymore.

might try get some cacti porn up for you one day soon then :P some species broke dormancy the other week, still not outta winter yet, the rest should follow soon.

gerbil, i feel you bro. i am the same way, in those certain areas it almost feels like your in love, but its deeper and without any kind of anxious feeling. its just right. the word right seems so simple, but i dont think people really think much about what it REALLY means to truly feel right. i can say i almost never truly feel "right", until i get into certain forested areas that just seem like something out of avatar. the kind of place that makes you think its the perfect tripping place, but you dont dare want to trip there out of respect and the likelihood it cant be improved upon.

i had a VERY special area to me back home in canada. i used to just go drive to after work and sleep under a certain tree way out in the logging roads. the sun always rose early enough for me to wake, head home for a quick shower and make work on time. It was logged since i have been in Taiwan though, i found out 2 areas and its a dry barren broom filled shit pile.

i think any country has its special areas like this, and they are relatively unknown...perhaps why they are special as they dont get destroyed...usually.

i have a real hard time photographing...maybe its the light, maybe its just the fact that you need a 360 view of the place in all directions to really get a feel.

that said try and post some pics of your special places...i doubt anyone will complain about nature pics :)

ok, im writing a book now. natural places is my biggest love on earth, far more than plants alone.

here is a place i found while going to 7-11 to get some beer. right by my house here....the interesting thing is i just felt i needed to drive the scooter that way, then i found it...even more intersting is i didnt get beer and stayed sober for 4 days follow...to be honest i am an alky and 2 days is pretty rough. this is just right off the road. this weekend i will try and climb the waterfall, cause i know there is some good hiking to be had up there...so long as the rain stops a bit, its also hugely bad mudslide area.

another place in taiwan by us. this is a really deep and fairly wide pool, great swimming! decent sized fish. to teh right is a cave, but all the pics of that have a naked body in them :) this is popular for peopel to go to though...and last eyars typhoon morokat fucked it up right good :(

Another simply amazing place is Carmanah walbran park on Vancouver ISland, BC Canada. The west coast trail goes on the edge of it.

this dude awaits visitors to the parking lot coming from Nitinat lake

Wonderful pics kada and I can certainly empathise with this feeling of rightness in the world's beautiful natural places; especially where those places have become familiar from repeated exposure, adventure and communication. that is where it's at. taiwan looks like a nice place indeed.
